8 Chapter 1 / Section 1 Getting Started T urn the Mode Dial to the symbol of the mode you want to use. Mode Dial Symbols and Functions Ho w to Use the Mode Dial The Mode Dial is on t he top of the camera. The Mode Dial is used to select the desired mode and operation for shooting an d playback (still image viewing).
9 Chapter 1 / Section 1 Ge tting Started Insert the batteries following these steps. Slide the ba ttery door open. Insert the two batteries , making sure they are facing the correct way . Slide the battery door closed. Inser ting the Batteries The following batteries can be used in the camera.
10 Chapter 1 / Section 1 Getting Started Make sure the camera's power is off. Slide the batte ry door open. Insert the AC Adaptor Battery . Open the power (DC IN ) cable cover and then thread the cable out. Slide the battery cover closed. Plug the power cord into an outlet.
11 Chapter 1 / Section 1 Getting Started T o turn the camera On Press the power button. The flash lamp and auto-focus lamp will flash alternately for several seconds. T o turn the camera Off Press the power button. T ur ning the P o wer On/Of f The camera is switched be tween On and Off as follows.
12 Chapter 1 / Section 1 Getting Started T o set the date and time , follow the steps below . Make sure the power is on and then turn the Mode Dial to (Setup Mode). The Setup screen is displayed on the LCD Moni tor . Press the button to select [DA TE SETTINGS] and then press the button.
13 Chapter 1 / Section 1 Getting Started When an SD Memory Card is not inserted, the camera records images in the internal memory; when an SD Memory Card is inserted, it records images on the SD Memory Card. The internal memory capacity is 8MB. Load the SD Memory Ca rd according to the following steps.

It is recommended you plug in th e AC Adaptor whenever viewing still images or movies on the LCD Monitor .
71 Chapter 1 / Section 4 Vie wing Still Images and Movies T o display the still image you just took, follow the steps below . While still in the Shoo ting Mode, press the (Quick Review) button. The still image you just took is displayed on the LCD Monitor .
72 Chapter 1 / Section 4 Vie wing Still Images and Movies Displaying an Enlarged Vi ew of the Still Image Displayed The still image you disp layed with the (Quick Review) button can be displayed enlarged up to 3.4 times using the (Enlarged View) button.
73 Chapter 1 / Section 4 Vie wing Still Images and Movies Deleting the Displayed Still Image or Movie The movie or still image you displayed using the (Quick Review) button can be deleted by pressing the (DELETE) button. T o delete a still image or movie that is displayed, follow the steps below .

Section 5 Deleting Still Images and Movies One of the big advantages of digita l cameras is that you can delete unwanted still images and movies on the spot. This section explains deleting still images and mo vies you have taken. For how to prevent still images fr om accidental deleting, see p.
