29 Getting Started 2 Using the Lens Shutter of the LS Lens The PENTAX 645LS lenses have a built-in leaf shutter which allows for high s peed flash synchronizat ion. When using a leaf shutter lens, set the shutter speed ring on the lens to LS. Note that the following restrictions apply when using a leaf shutter lens.
30 Getting Started 2 Using the Batter y and Charger Use th e batt ery D- LI90 a nd batt ery ch arger D -BC90 exc lusi vely deve loped for this camera . 1 Connect the AC plug cord to the batte ry charger. 2 Plug the AC plug cord into the power out let.
31 Getting Started 2 1 Open the battery cover. Lift the battery cover unlock knob, t u rn it towards OPEN to unlock, and th en pull the cover open. 2 Face the A mark on the battery towards outside of the camera, and i nsert the battery unti l it locks into place.

34 Getting Started 2 Power 1 Turn the main switch to [ON] . The first time the camera is turned on after purchase, the [Language/ W ] screen appears. Memo • Always turn the camera off when not in us e. • The power will automatically turn off when you do not perform any operations within a set period of time (Auto Pow er Off).
35 Getting Started 2 6 Use CD to select T or S and press E . The camera returns to the [Initial Setting] screen. 7 Press B . The cursor moves to [Text Size]. 8 Press D , use AB to se lect [Standard] or [Large], and press E . Selecting [Large] incre ases the text size of the selected menu items.
36 Getting Started 2 Memo • Pressing F whi le se tting the date and time cancels the settings and switches the c amera to standby m ode. The [Initial Setting] screen or the [Date Adjustment] screen will appear again the next time the power is turned on.
37 Getting Started 2 5 Press A to select [F ormat] and press E . Formatting starts. When formatting is completed, the D 4 menu reappears. 6 Press F . The camera returns to standby mode. Caut ion • Do not remove the memory card while formatting. The card may be damaged.
