1 Prepar ations Installing the Ba tter y and Memor y Card 1 Insert the batteries. 1. Open the battery cover ( a , b ). 2. Insert four AA-size alkaline batter ies supplied or separately sol d nickel met al hydride (NiMH) batteries, then close the cover .
2 Prep arations T o Remove the Memory Card Use your fing er to push the memo ry card in until you hear a clic k, then release it. Firs t Time Settings Opening the LCD Monitor Use the LC D monitor to confirm ima ges while shooting th em, navigate menus, and pla y back images.

When you push the LCD monitor until you hear the clicking sound, the left and right of the image will display correctly . Place the Canon Digital Camera Sol ution Disk in the computer's CD-ROM drive.
21 2 Connecting the camera to a computer . 1. Use the supplied interface cable to connect the computer's USB port to the camera's DIGIT AL terminal. With your fingernail on th e upper edge of the camera's DIGIT AL terminal cover , pull it forward to open it, and plug the interface cable in all the way .
22 Downlo ading Images to a Computer A window allowing you to set the pref erences will appe ar when a connection is established be tween the camer a and computer. 1 Select [Canon CameraWindow] a nd click [OK] (first time only). 2 Download the imag es.
23 Downloading Image s to a Computer The following window opens when you establish a con nection bet ween the camera a nd computer . If it fails to ap pear , click the [ Canon CameraWindow] icon on the Dock (t he bar that disp lays at the bot tom of the desktop) .
24 Downloading Ima ges Using the Ca mera (Direct T ransfer) When communica tion between the camera and compu ter is enabled, the button will light blue an d the Direct Transfer menu is disp layed on the camera's LCD monitor . At this poin t, images can be transferre d using camera o perations.
