2 System R equirements T o use the USR obotics USB Int ernet Phone and Skyp e™ Internet telep hony service, yo ur computer sy stem and enviro nment must meet the followi ng minimum requir ements: • Operating sy stem: Wind ows® 2000 or XP • Processor speed: 400 MHz • USB port: USB 1.
3 2. Connect the USB Internet Phone to your com- puter’s USB por t. W ait for an indication th at in stallation is complete. If you are prom pted to r eboot your c omputer , click Ye s .
4 3. Inser t the USRo botics Installation C D-ROM. The CD didn’t start automaticall y? Fro m t h e Star t menu, select My C o mp u ter and double- click the CD drive.
5 4. Install Skype If Skype is already installed on your co mputer , go to step 5. A. If prompted, s elect yo ur language and accept the End User License Agreement.
6 5. Install the USB Internet Phone A. Select Install USB Internet Phone ..
7 B. F ollo w the instructions to install the USB Internet Phone. Make sure that Allow this pr ogram to use Sk ype is selected. A green phone icon sh ould appear in your system tray near the clock. If the phone icon remains red or gr ey, refer to “T roubleshooting” on page 15 for more inform ation.
8 6. V erify the installation by making a test call. A. F rom your Windows Start menu, select Programs , then select Sk yp e and star t the Skype program. B. Select To o l s , Options . Then select So und De vice s. C. In the Skype program, click M ake a test call to Skype answering machine and follow the on-screen instructions.
9 Operation Vo l u m e T o adjust the volume of the phone, double-click the USB Internet Phone icon in the system tray by your clock on your co mputer desktop.
10 • Select or deselec t the Run when Windo ws starts feature. If you select this feature, the USB Internet Phone utility will automatically launch when your computer is turned on. • Choose one of th e 10 different Ring styles . Y ou can also change the ring tone by pressing the key in the bot- tom righ t corner o f the pho ne.
11 Placing a call using the phone Calling from your cont act list Pres s the contac ts button on your phone. Use the arrows to highlight a contact. On-line contact: Off-line co ntact: Press th e send button (green) to call the contact. When you are done, press the end button (red).
12 Calling from call history Use the arrows to scr oll throu gh your call his tory and select a call. Pres s send to place a call. When you are done, press end. Calling a traditional land line or mobile phone Y ou can call traditional la ndline or mobi le numbers using SkypeOut™.
13 Placing a call on hold If you receive a call when you are already engaged in another call, you can place the first call on hold to take the second call. Pres s send to take the incoming call and place t he first call on hold. Press the contact button to switch to the incoming call .

16 Click Privacy and then Manage ot her prog rams’ access to Skype . Select U.S.ROBO TICSUSBPHONE.exe an d click Change . Select Allow this program to use Skype and click OK .
17 My USB Int ernet Phone shows th at it is connected to my computer but the button s on the phone don’t do anything. Possible Solution Make sure that the USB Inter net Phone utilit y and the Skype program are both running. Follow the installati on steps in this guide if the utilities have not been in stalled.
18 I am not able to hear any sound through the USB Int e rnet Phone. Possible Solution: Skype may not be set to us e the USB Internet Phone. Fro m y o ur Wi n do ws Star t menu, select Progr ams , then select Skype and start the Skype program. Select To o l s , Op tions .

The model number of your phone is 9601. If you ev er need to call for techni- cal support, you will need yo ur phone’s serial number.
