Basic functions 24 Selecting options Y ou can select options by pressing [ m ] and using the navigation buttons ([ D ], [ c ], [ F ], [ I ]). Basic functions 26 Setting the display and sound Learn how to change the basic information the camera displays and the sound settings. About a histogram A histogram is a graph that displays how light is distributed in your photo. If the histogram has a high peak on the left, your photos are dark.

Extended functions 35 Using the Smart Auto mode In this mode, your camera automatically chooses the appropriate camera settings based on a detected type of scene. The Smart Auto mode will be helpful if you are not familiar with the camera settings for various scenes.

However , when the video resolution is 1920 X 1080 HQ or 1920 X 1080, the captured photos have the same resolution as a photo in Shooting mode. • Captured photos will work as bookmarks to jump to that point in the video.

Shooting options 55 Using burst modes It can be difficult to take photos of fast-moving subjects or capture natural facial expressions and gestures of your subjects in photos. Also, it can be difficult to adjust the exposure correctly and select a proper light source.
Shooting options 56 Using burst modes T aking photos in the Precapture mode In the Precapture mode, the camera starts shooting before you even press the shutter all the way down. If you do not want to miss the first couple of important shots, simply use this mode and select the photo with the best results after shooting.
Shooting options 57 Using burst modes T aking photos in the Interval mode In the Interval mode, you can take a set number of photos at a set interval over a period of time. The captured photos show the natural progression of time. This mode is helpful to capture the movement of clouds or opening of flower buds.

Shooting options 68 Using face detection Using smart face recognition The camera automatically registers faces that you frequently photograph (up to 10 people). This feature will automatically prioritize the focus on those faces. This feature is available only when you use a memory card.
