Menu operations 32 EN All existing data, including pr otected pictures, ar e erased when the internal memory or ca rd is formatted (images registered to “My Favorite” are not erased). Make sure that you save or transfer important dat a to a computer before formatting t he internal memory or card.
Menu operations EN 33 You can save the current shooting mode settings ( P / AUTO , h , s ) for use the next time the camera is turned on. •F o r s mode, the screen of the scene mode that was set the last time the camera was turned off is displayed.
Menu operations 34 EN File names and their folder names for recorded pictures are automatically generated by the camera. File names and folder names resp ectively include file numbers (0001 to 9999) and folder names (100 to 999), an d are named as follows.
Menu operations EN 35 The date and time is saved with each imag e, and is used in the file name. • The fir st two digits of the year are fixed. • The time is displayed i n the 24-hour forma t. • To se t the time precisely, with the cursor at either “minute” or [Y/M/D], press o as th e time signal strikes 00 seconds.
Menu operations 36 EN • When [ X ] has not been set, [ALARM CLOCK] is not available. • When [SILENT MODE] is set to [ON], the alarm will not sound. • When [DUALTI ME] is set to [ON], the alarm s ounds acco rding to the dual time date and time setting.
Menu operations EN 37 Playing back pictures on a TV Turn off the camera and the TV before connect ing. When no operation has been perfo rmed for approximately 10 second s while in shoot ing mode, the monitor automatically shuts o ff. Pressing th e zoom button or other buttons restores the camera from power save mode.
38 EN Printing pictures Printing pictures By connecting the camera to a PictBridge-comp atib le printer, you can print out pict ures directly. Select the picture s you want to print and the numb er of prints on the camera’s monitor. To find out if your printer is compatible with Pict Bridge, refer to the printe r’s instruction manual.
Printing pictures EN 39 3 Press 1 F / < . • Printing starts. • When printing is finished, the picture selection screen is displayed. To print another picture, press 43 to select a picture, and press 1 F / < . • When you are finished, disconnect the USB cable from the camera with the picture selection screen displayed.

44 EN Using OLYMPUS Master Using OLYMPUS Master Using the USB cable provided wit h your camera, you can connect th e camera and computer and download (transfer) the image s to your com puter using t he OLYMPUS Master software, also provided with the camera.
EN 45 Using OLYMPUS Master Before installing the OLYMPUS Master software , please confirm that your computer is compatible with the follo wing syst em requirements. For newer operating syst ems, please refer to the Olympus web si te as shown on the back cover of this manual.
46 EN Using OLYMPUS Master Windows 1 Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. • The OLYMPUS Master setup screen is displayed. • If the screen is not displayed, double-click the “My Computer” icon and click the CD-ROM icon. 2 Select the display language and click the “OLYMPUS Master 2” button.

48 EN Using OLYMPUS Master 4 The camera is recognized by th e computer. • Windows When you connect the camera to your computer for the first time, the com puter attempts to recognize the camera. Click “OK” to exit the message that is displayed. The camera is recognized as a “Removable Disk”.

62 EN Appendix Appendix Exterior: • Wipe gently with a soft cloth. If the camera i s very dirty, soak the cloth in mil d soapy water and wring well. Wipe the camera with the damp cl oth and then dry it with a dry cloth. If you have used the cam era at the beach, use a cloth soaked in cle an water and w rung well.
