1 Getting S t arted The WiFi phone con nects wirelessly to Skype through your broadband Internet connecti on. Y ou can use the WiF i phone to make and receive calls and to manage Skype. T o set up and use your WiFi phone: 1. Ch eck the package contents.

Getting Started 3 3. Co nnect the power cord, and plug it into an outlet. The battery charges, which can take up to 12 hours. 4. Push the On/Of f button to turn on the WiFi ph one. 5. Use the soft key to a ccept the No Emerge ncy Calls message . The WiFi phone tries to connect to a network.
4 Getting Started Join a Wireless Network The WiFi phone scan s for wireless networks in your area. It joins the first open network without wi rele ss security tha t it finds.
Getting Started 5 The first time that you join a wir eless network with security , you must know the password or WEP keys. When entering letters, tap the button to change from a, to b, a nd so on. After you have joined the network, th e WiFi phone remembers the network settin gs and saves them in Preferred Networks.
6 Getting Started Sign In to Skype After you join a network, you are prom pted to sign in to Skype, or to create a new Skype account. Enter your Skype Name and Skype pass word.

9 Using the W iFi phone After you set up the WiFi phone, you can use it to make and receive calls. The WiFi p hone contro ls are shown below . Hang up USB connector for supplied battery S peaker phone.
10 Using the W iFi phone Controls The controls on the WiFi phone are d escribed in this sectio n. • V o lume control. Change the volume for the WiFi pho ne. • S p e aker phon e co ntrol. T urn the speaker phone on or off. • Select or Option s. This soft key work s with the display as Select , or Options .
Using the W iFi phone 11 On/Off Button Menu The On/Off button is located at th e top of the WiFi phone. After the WiFi phone starts up, you can use this button to display a menu. The menu offers these options: • Switch off. Switch of f the WiFi phone.
12 Using the W iFi phone Change Y our S t a tus Normally , the WiFi phone is Online. T o view or change the status: 1. Push the On/Of f butto n located at the top of the WiFi phone. 2. Select Change status. The Wi Fi phone shows the foll owing options: • Offline.
Using the W iFi phone 13 SkypeOut, SkypeIn, and Skype V oicemail The WiFi ph one is optimized fo r Skype. With Skype you can make free calls to anyone else using Skype. If you have already signed up for the following you can also use them immediatel y on your WiFi p hone: • SkypeO ut.

Using the W iFi phone 15 Call a Cont a ct T o call a contact: 1. Select a cont act. Y ou can press a letter key o n the phone to go to con tact s whose names begin with that letter . 2. Select Options with the soft key . Then select call. 3. During the call, you can use the soft keys to select Options or End Call.
16 Using the W iFi phone Options During a Call Choosing Optio ns lets you manage you r call and work with cont act s. • Hold. Put the person you are ca lling on hold . The phon e puts a call on hold if there is anoth er incoming call. • Mute mic rophone/Unmu te.
Using the W iFi phone 17 Advanced Optio ns Select a contact. Select Options, and then se lect Advanced. Scroll and select an advanced op tion. • Rename. Change a contact’s name. • Remove. Y ou can remove any contact from your cont acts list. • Block.
18 Using the W iFi phone Add a Cont act Y ou can add a Skype contact or a SkypeOut cont act. Choose by Skype T o add a Skype contact: 1. From the cont act s list, select Opt ions, and t hen select Advanced. 2. Scroll down and se lect Add Contact. 3. Choose By Skype Name.
Using the W iFi phone 19 By SkypeOut Number T o add a SkypeOut contact: 1. From the cont act s list, select Opt ions, and t hen select Advanced. 2. Scroll down and se lect Add Contact. 3. Choose By SkypeOu t number . 4. Enter a descriptive name for the contact.
20 Using the W iFi phone Search for Users Y ou can search by Skype Name, by full name, or by e-mail. T o search: 1. Select Search from the me nu, or sel ect it on the Options menu with the soft key . 2. T ype your search criteria with the keypad. T o stop a search, use the soft keys to choose S t op or Cancel.
Using the W iFi phone 21 Authorization If you want to let other Skype users know when you are online, then you need to authorize them. If someon e adds you to his or her contact list, that person is li sted as Authorization waiting. Y ou can use the privacy settin gs in Skype to receive incomin g calls on ly from peop le with auth orizat ion.
22 Using the W iFi phone Authorization W aiting These contacts are waiting for you to authorize them so that they will be notifie d when you are online. 1. From the contacts display , sele ct Options with the soft key . 2. Select Authorization waiting.
Using the W iFi phone 23 History V iew th e calls that have been made, re ceived, and missed from this WiFi phone since the last time it was re set. Y ou can also view Authorizations here . T o can go to this screen, you can u se the H istory button or the History menu selection .
24 Using the W iFi phone Vo i c e m a i l If you have purchased Skype V oicemail, then you can access it from the main menu or the Histo ry menu. Ti p : From the main menu you can p ress and hold down the 1 button t o go dire ctly to V oi cemail. Y ou can not use this shortcut while entering numb ers.

28 Settings and Wi reless Networks Network From the Setti ngs menu, select Ne twork. The Network me nu has these options: • Wireless networ ks in range . Scan for networks in your area, and display the m. • Preferre d ne tworks. Y ou ha ve connected to these networks with your WiFi phone.
Settings and Wi reless Networks 29 General From the Settings menu, sele ct General. T he General menu has these options: • Change p assword. Change your Skype sign-in password. • Auto sign in. Automatically sign in to Skype when you use the WiFi p hone (recommen ded).
30 Settings and Wi reless Networks Advanced From the Setting s menu, choose Advanced. Y ou should not need to change most of these settin gs. The Advan ced menu ha s these options: • Sof tware up dates. Check to see if a software update is available for your WiFi phone.
Settings and Wi reless Networks 31 Preferred Networks When you con nect to a wireless network, the WiFi p hone remembers the network and puts it into Preferred Networks. T o view or man age Preferred Networks: 1. On the Settings men u, select Preferred Ne tworks.
32 Settings and Wi reless Networks Connect t o a Ne twork The WiFi ph one scans for wirel ess networks when yo u turn it on. If no network is ava ilable, you ca n scan for the network aga in, or try later . Se e “Network” on page 28. Also see “Wirel ess Networks” on page 4-36.

35 T roubleshooting Use the foll owing suggestio ns to loca te the sou rce of a problem. Find t he Problem T o make and receive calls, the WiF i phone must do the followin g: 1. Respond w hen turned on. If the phone does not respond, see “Charg e the Battery” on page 2.
36 Troubleshooting Wireless Networks T o use your WiFi phone, you need a goo d connection to a wireless network. The WiFi ph one automa tically scans for wireless networks. If it does not find your network, check the following items: • Move the WiFi ph one closer to the wireless access point or router .
Troubleshooting 37 • If you have connected to a netwo rk befo re, the phone remembers the settings unless you sign out or th e phone is reset. Y ou can view and manage yo ur Preferred Networks as described in “Preferred Networks” on page 31.
