26 Using the Mode Button This camer a pro vides a conv enient mode button that allows y ou to switch easily among diff erent modes. A fter pressing the button to enter the mode selection menu, press the left/ right button to choose the selected mode. Press the button to confirm your selection.

Scene Mode Y ou can select an appropriate mode fr om the 20 scene modes accor ding to the type of envir onment you are shooting.
29 Scene Description Auto Scene Identifies the scene automatically; P erson, Backlighting, Landscape, Macr o, Night Scene, Night Scene P erson, Auto. Landscape F or landscapes and outdoor shots. V ivid repr oduction of green and blue. Sport For fast-moving subjects.

31 Auto Scene Mode ( ASCN) In “ ASCN” scene mode, the camera can detect differ ent envir onments intelligently and automatically select the best scene and photo settings for you.
32 Y our camera is equipped with tw o types of zoom functions: optical zoom and digital z oom. T oggle the zoom lev er of the camera to zoom in or out of the subject while taking pictures.
33 Macro Mode The macr o setting is ideal for shooting small objects or close-up photos. This mode allo ws you to f ocus on subjects very close to the camer a. 1. Press the left button ( ) to enter the marco menu. 2. Press the left/ right button to select the following 2 modes: • Macro Off Select this option to disable macro .
34 Self-timer Setting Use this function to take pictur es at pre-set intervals. First choose 2 sec onds, 10 seconds,or by smile det ection. and then take the pictur es. 1. Press the left button ( ) , and then press the down button ( ) to enter the self-timer menu.
35 Flash Mode The flash pr ovides supplemental light for the sc ene. The flash is usually used when shooting against the light to highlight the object; it is also suitable for metering and shooting in darker sc enes to impro ve the exposur e. 1. Press the flash pop up button to pop up the flash.
36 EV Setting The EV function menu of the camer a includes functions, such as EV , shutter adjustment, ISO. Using the appropriate function settings can impr ov e your pictur es. To select the best setting for optimum photos, follow these steps: 1. Press the button to display the settings screen.
37 ISO The ISO function allo ws you to set the sensitivit y of the camera's light sensor based on the brightness of the scene. T o improve the camer a's sensor performance in darker en vironments, a higher ISO v alue is requir ed. A low er ISO value is needed when shooting in brighter conditions.
38 Using Quick Rec ording In shooting mode, press the button to begin recording video. After rec ording, pr ess the button or the shutter button to stop rec ording.

40 V iewing Photos and V ideos T o view the captured photos and video clips on the L CD: 1. After pres sing the button, the last photo or video clip taken will be displa yed on the L CD. 2. Use the left / right navigation buttons to scr oll through the photos or video clips stor ed in the internal memory or on the memory card.
41 Thumbnail V iew When in playback mode, rotate the z oom lever counter to the position to display thumbnail images of the photos and videos on the screen.
42 Using Zoom Pla yback (for still pictur es only) The z oom lever can also be used during pla yback. This allo ws you to magnify phot os between x2 to x8. 1. Press the button to switch to playback mode. 2. Press the left/ right button to select a picture to be z oomed in.
43 This setting allo ws you to vie w all the stored imag es as a slideshow . 1. Press the button to enter playback screen. 2. Press the button to enter slide option. 3. Press the left/ right button to select slideshow pla ying or 「 Cancel 」 to r eturn to the playback screen.
44 Photos and Video Deletion In playback mode, press the do wn button ( ) to delete your photos and videos. T o delete photos or videos: 1. Press the button to switch to playback mode. 2. Press the left/right button to select the photos and videos to be deleted.
45 Shooting Menu USING THE MENUS F unctions that can be enabled are differ ent under each mode. Mode: 1. In photo shooting mode, press the button to enter the shooting menu. 2. Press the up/down button to select the shooting menu to be set. 3. Press the left/right button to select the shooting menu to be set and press the button to confirm.
46 Image Size The siz e setting refer s to the image resolution in pix els. A higher image resolution allo ws you t o print that image in larger sizes without degr ading the image quality . The larger the number of recorded pixels, the larger the file size and the fewer files that can be saved on your memory card.
47 Cont. AF Enable the continuous AF to be able to continuously focus automatically when taking pictur es. • Cont. AF: Off • C ont. AF: On White Balance Setting The white balance setting allo ws you to adjust the color temperatur e for differ ent lighting sources t o ensure the most accurate c olor repr oduction.
48 F ocus Setting In different photo shooting modes, y ou can select different f ocus methods. • Single-AF: The focus frame appears on the center of the LCD to focus on the subject. • Multi-AF: The camera automatically focuses the subject in a wide area to find the focus point.
49 Color Effect The image color setting allows you to select different effects. 1. In photo shooting mode, press the button to enter the shooting menu. 2. Press the up/down button to select the image color setting menu, press the button to enter the menu.

54 F ace Detection F or detecting and focusing on fac es to mak e all faces as clear as possible in photo mode. 1. Hold the camera steadily and then focus on the object to detect its face. A f ocus frame will appear at the face on the scr een when a face is detect ed.

60 Rotate Y ou can use this setting to change the orientation of the picture. : T urn Right : T urn Left : Cancel Videos and panor amic pictures cannot be r otated. The r otated picture file will r eplace the original photo. Red-E ye R eduction Y ou can use this setting to reduc e the Red-E ye of the picture.
61 Resiz e This setting allo ws you to r esize a pictur e to a particular resolution and sav es it as a new pictur e. : Resiz e to 102 4x768 : Resiz e to 640x480 : Cancel Only for adjusting pictures with high r esolution to those with low r esolution.

64 T rim The T rim Setting allows you to cr op photos and sav e them as new pictures. 1. Select 「 Yes 」 to confirm trim. Select a part to be trimmed using the zoom lever and direction buttons to trim a photo. 2. Press the button and the 「 Save change? 」 prompt appears.

Connecting to a C omputer Y ou can use a Micro USB cable to c onnect the camera and copy (tr ansmit) photos to a computer , printer or other device. Setting the USB Mode The camer a’s Micr o USB por t can be set to connect with either a computer or a printer .
72 T ransferring files to y our computer The computer will aut omatically detect the camera as a remo vable drive. Double-click the m y computer icon on the desktop to locate the r emov able drive and to cop y folders and files in the driv e to a directory on y our PC as you w ould copy any t ypical folder or file.
73 Connecting to a P ictBridge C ompatible Printer PictBridge technology allo ws printing of the photos saved in the memory car d by the printer . T o find out if a printer is PictBridge compatible, simply look for the PictBridg e logo on the packaging or check the o wner's manual for specifications.
74 Connecting to your Printer 1. Make sur e both the camera and printer ar e turned on. 2. Connect one end of the supplied Micr o USB cable to the Micro USB port on your camer a.
75 Using the PictBridge Menu After setting the USB mode to Printer, the PictBridge menu will appear. Press the up/down button to select a menu item and press the button or right button to enter the item. Refer to the f ollowing sections for mor e detailed information on each setting.
