11 Chapter 1 Choosing Internal Memory or SD/MMC Card The camera offers two options for storing pict ures and videos: Internal Memory — store pictures and videos in internal memory . SD/MMC Card — store as many pictures and videos as you like, depending on the size of the card.

20 Chapter 2 Liveview — Framing with the Camera Screen When you turn on Liveview , the camera screen displ ays a live image of what th e lens sees. Use the camera screen to frame your subject. 1 T urn the Mod e dial to any Still posi tion. The camera screen displa ys a mode description for a few seconds.
21 Chapter 2 Quickview — Reviewing the Picture Just Taken After you take a picture, the camera screen d isplays a Quickview of tha t picture for approximat ely 5 seconds. While the picture is displaye d, you can: m Review it: If you take no actio n, the pictur e is saved.
22 Chapter 2 Using the Auto Focus Fr aming Marks For the best possibl e pictures , the camera attempts to focus on foreground subjects (even if the subjects are n ot centered i n the scene). NOTE: Auto Focus fr aming marks appear only when the camera screen is turned on .

26 Chapter 2 Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self T imer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutte r butto n and the time the picture is take n. T urn on the Se lf T imer: 1 In any Still mode, press the Me nu bu tton. 2 Press to highligh t Self T imer , then press the OK button.
27 Chapter 2 Setting Exposure Compensation Use Exposure Comp ensation to con trol how much li ght enters the ca mera. This setting is useful for taking pic tures in very large rooms, under low ligh t, without a flash. Adjust the exposure by plus or minus 2 steps in 1/2-step increme nts.
28 Chapter 2 Setting Long T ime Exposure Use Long Ti me Exposure to cont rol how long the sh utter stays open. Settings are: None, 0.7, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4 seconds. NOTE: Long Time Exposure cannot be used with Exp osure Compensation . 1 T o avoid blurry pi ctures, place th e camera on a flat, steady surface o r use a tripod.

31 Chapter 2 Setti ng the O rienta tion Sen sor If you rotate the camera to take a picture (for example, a portrait shot ), the Orientation Sensor rotate s the picture so that it is displayed correct side up during Quic kview and Review . The Ori enta tion Se nsor is turn ed on a s the defau lt.

33 3 Ta k i n g V i d e o s Use th e V ideo mode to take vide os or to custo miz e video -taking settin gs. Before you take a video, make sure you r picture storage location is set the way you want it (see page 1 1 ). NOTE: Zoom and flash are not avail able in Video mode.
34 Chapter 3 Quickview — Reviewing the Video Jus t Taken After you take a video, the camera screen displays the first frame of the video for approximately 5 seconds. While the frame is displayed, you can: m Play it: Press the OK butt on. Press OK again to pause the vid eo.

61 9 Using th e Optional Camer a Do c k I I The Kodak EasyShare camera dock II makes it easy to transfer your pictures and videos to the comp uter . The camera dock is also a rapid battery charger for the included Kod ak EasyShare Ni-MH rec hargeable bat tery , and supplies power t o the ca mera.
62 Chapter 9 Installing the Camera Insert Kodak EasyShare digital cameras are packag ed with a custom camera insert, which is u sed to fit the c amera to the camera dock . 1 Place the front tabs on the cust om insert into the slots in the camera dock cavity .
63 Chapter 9 Connecting the Camera Dock After the Kodak EasyShare sof tware is loaded (see page 55 ), conne ct th e camera dock to your computer and to an external pow er source.

70 Chapter 10 Rechargeable Ni-MH battery p ack has a short life. There is dirt on th e battery cont acts. Wipe the batt ery cont acts w ith a clean, dry cloth befo re loading batteries in the camera. The battery n eeds to be conditione d. 1 Place the camera on the camera dock.
71 Chapter 10 Shutter b utton does not work. Camera is not turned on. Turn on the camera ( page 7 ). The camera i s processing a picture; the ready light (near the viewfind er) is blinking. Wait unti l the light stops bli nking before at tempting to take anoth er pict ur e.
72 Chapter 10 In Revie w mode, you do n ot see a picture (or the expected picture ) on the camera screen. The camera may not be accessing the correct storage location. Check t he picture st orage locat ion se ttin g ( page 11 ). In Revie w mode, pictures are displayed as black screens.
73 Chapter 10 Picture is too dark. Flash is not on or did not fun ction. Turn on the fl ash ( page 24 ). The subje ct is too far a way for the fl ash to have an effect. Move so there is n o more than 11.2 ft (3.4 m) between t he camera and the subje ct; 6.
74 Chapter 10 Picture is not clear. The lens is dirty. C lean the lens ( page 92 ). Subject too clos e when taking pic ture. Move so t here is at least 2.0 f t (0.6 m) between the camera and the subject, or at l east 2.8 in. (7.0 cm) in Close-up mode.
75 Chapter 10 Camera /Computer Communic ations Problem Cause Solution The comp uter cannot communicate with the camera. Camera power is off. Turn on the camera ( page 7 ). Battery is not charged. R eplace ( page 5 ) o r recharge the batte ries ( page 66 ).
76 Chapter 10 SD/MMC Car ds and In ternal Me mory Problem Cause Solu tion The came ra does not recognize your SD/MMC card. Card may not be SD/MMC certified. Purchase a certified SD/MMC card ( page 10 ). Card may be corrupt. Reformat the card ( pa ge 53 ).
77 Chapter 10 Came ra Sc reen Mess ages Message Cause Solution No images t o display There are no p ictures in the current storage locatio n. Change you r picture storage loc ation settin g ( page 11 ). Memory card requires formatting Card is corrupted or formatted for another digital camera.

79 Chapter 10 Unrecognized Fi le Format Camera cannot re ad the picture format. Transfer t he unreadabl e picture t o the co mputer ( page 59 ), or dele te th e picture ( page 38 ). High camera temperature. ( Camera will be turn ed off. ) The i nte rnal temperature of the camera is too hi gh for the camera to operate.
