10 11 Getting Ready 6 5 lens cap holder Fastener Fastener When attaching the strap to the camera, attach the metal strap clip to the camera before threading the strap through the clip. This description explains how to attach the strap using the clip attaching tool provided to make attaching the metal strap clip easier.
12 13 Getting Ready 1 Check that the camera is turned off (indicator lamp is off) before opening the battery cover. ● ! Opening the battery cover while the camera is on, the camera is turned off. ● ! Do not apply force to the battery cover. 2 Load the batteries correctly as indicated by the polarity icons.

Position the thumb of your right hand so that it is handy for using the zoom. ● ! The image will be blurred if the camera moves when taking the picture (camera shake).

40 41 Advanced Features N PROGRAMMED AUTO STILL PHOTOGRAPHY FUNCTIONS Set the Mode dial to “ N ”. This is an automatic mode that allows you to specify any of the settings other than the shutter speed and aperture.

46 47 Advanced Features d Forced flash Use this mode in backlit scenes, such as a subject against a window or in the shade of a tree, or to get the correct colors when taking a picture under bright lighting. In this mode, the flash fires in bright as well as dark conditions.
48 49 Advanced Features Use this button to take pictures of a moving subject. Using Continuous AF mode reduces the time required for focusing. Set the Focus mode selector switch to “C-AF”. 1 2 Frame the shot so that the subject fills the center of the image or the entire AF frame.
50 51 Advanced Features f Top 10-frame continuous shooting S T O R I N G S T O R I N G This mode shoots up to 10 frames (Max. 4.5 frames/sec.). When taking the pictures, the images appear (in sequence from the left) and recorded.
