3 Intr oduction Y our new digital pr ojector is easy to connect, easy to use, easy to maintain and has XGA 1024x7 68 resolut ion. The pr ojector comes in a carry case that of fers ample r oom for B OX LIGH T accessory items such as the projec tor remote, color-c oded cables, an d docu- mentati on.

5 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect the black end of the computer cable to t he Computer 1 connector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the vi d eo port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to dis c onnect the monitor cable fr om t he computer ’ s video port.
6 If you pr efer connecting your computer t o the projector wi th an optional VESA cable, conn ec t on e end of the cable to the VESA port on your com- puter , an d connect th e other end of th e cable to the bl ue Compute r 2 con- nector on the pr ojector .
7 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r bu tton on the to p of the projector or t he r e mote. The LED fla shes green and the fans sta rt to run. Whe n the lamp comes on, the sta rtup screen is displayed an d the LED is s teady green.
8 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to t he pr ojector , the computer recognizes the pr ojector as “ new ha rdw are ” and the Add Ne w Ha rd wa re W i za rd ap pe ar s.

10 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of the pr ojector , if n ecessary , by pres sing the rel ease but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate the leveling foot, if necessary . Position the projector the desir ed distance fr om the scree n at a 90 degree angle to the screen.

Whe n the lamp comes on, the sta rtup screen is displayed an d the LED is s teady green. It can take a minut e for th e image to achiev e full b rightne ss.
13 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotating them until the desir ed image size and sharpness ar e produced. If the image is not squar e, adjust the key stone using the butt ons on the key- pad. Pr ess the upper Ke y s t o n e butt on to reduce the upper part o f the image, and pr ess the lower Ke y s t o n e b utton to reduce th e lower par t.
14 Shutting do wn the projector The p r o jector au tomaticall y displa ys a black screen afte r no active s ource is detected for 3 0 minutes. 23 Using the remote contr o l The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batt eries. They ar e easily install ed by slidi ng the cove r off the r emote ’ s ba ck, aligni ng the + an d - ends of the batteries , sliding them into place, and then repl acing the cover .
24 Using the audio T o play sound from the projector , connec t your source to the Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adj ust the volume, use the b uttons on the keypa d or remote.
25 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’ s imag e is on the scre en, you can optimize t he image using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 27 . • Adjust the Keys tone, Co ntrast, or Brig htnes s in the Pict ure menu.
26 Optimizing video ima ges After the video devic e is connecte d properly an d the image is on the scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the menus, s ee page 27. • Adjust the Keystone , Contrast, B rightness, Co lor , or T int in the P icture menu.
27 Using the menus T o open the menus, pr ess the menu button on the key pad or remo te. (The menus a utomatically close a fter 60 second s if no button s are pre ssed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired submenu, then pr ess the Select button .
28 Picture menu T o adjust the fol lowing five set tings, highligh t the setting , press Se lect , use the up an d down arro ws to adjust the values, then pr ess select t o confirm the c hanges. Ke y s t o n e : adj usts the image ve rticall y and make s a squarer im age.
29 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentation s, photographs, fil m images, an d video images. 30 Advanced settings Sharpness : (v ideo sources only) cha nges the clarity of t he edges of a vide o image. Select a sha rpness settin g. Color S pace : This option appl ies to compute r and component vide o sour ces (it won ’ t appear in the menu f or S-video or c omposite video sour ces).

33 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet connector that support s net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corporate network. Th e following fields are accessible when DHCP is not check ed and available for manual entry of data.
34 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abra sive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dr y cloth. A void using an exc essive amount of cleaner , and do n ’ t apply th e cleaner directly to the lens. A brasive cleaner s, solvents or other har sh chemic als migh t scratch the lens.
35 Replacing the pr ojection la mp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of ho urs the lamp has b een in use. Af ter 1,980 hours, the message “ Change lamp ” briefly appe ars on the scree n at each startup. When th e timer r eaches 2,000 hours, the lamp will no long er light.

37 Using the security lo ck The pr ojector ha s a security lock for use with a PC Guardia n Cable Lock System. See “ Accessories ” on page 38 for or dering in formation. Ref er to the infor mation th at came with th e lock for in structio ns on how to us e it.
