6 T ASCAM CD-RW900 Rack-mounting the unit If you are mounting the unit in a rack, leave 1U of space above it and 4 inch (10cm) or more of space at the r ear . Use the rack-mounting kit to mount the unit in a stan- dard 19-inch equipment rack, as shown in this section.

T ASCAM CD-RW900 15 4−Playback operations The CD-RW900 can be used to play back CDs (includ- ing CD-R and CD-RW discs that have been recor ded and nalized on other types of recor der), as well as CD-R discs and CD-RW discs that have been recor ded on the unit.
16 T ASCAM CD-RW900 T rack sear ch 1 Press the ∆ / ˚ search key continuously on the front panel, or the SEARCH ∆ / ˚ key on the remote contr ol. 2 T o stop the search function, simply release the ∆ / ˚ or the SEARCH k e y . NOTE The search function does not operate with MP3 discs.

18 T ASCAM CD-RW900 NOTE The indicator ashes when a disc is not loaded into the unit. 4 Set the timer to the desir ed time. Consult the timer’ s operation manual for details. At the set time, the power to the CD-RW900 will be turned on, and playback will automatically begin.
T ASCAM CD-RW900 19 Pitch contr ol function A to B r epeat playback If a specic portion between two points on the disc is specied, that portion can be played back repeatedly . 1 During playback, press the A-B key on the remote control at the beginning of the desir ed portion on the disc.

In addition, several directories can be combined into one dir ectory .
1-Intr oduction T ASCAM CD-RW900 21 5−Recor ding The sampling frequency for CDs is 44.1 kHz. The CD- RW900 will always recor d (and play back) CDs at this frequency . However , if recor ding through a digital connection (either coaxial or optical) and the source has been r e- corded at a fr equency other than 44.
1-Intr oduction 22 T ASCAM CD-RW900 5−Recor ding Basic r ecording 1 Load a recor dable disc into the unit. As the disc loaded, the display shows TOC Reading. , with the period ashing. 2 Press the INPUT SELECT key to select a recor ding source (see “Input selection” on page 21).
1-Intr oduction T ASCAM CD-RW900 23 5−Recor ding Advanced r ecording Fade-in and fade-out recor ding At the beginning and end of recor ding, fade-in and fade-out effects can be performed.
1-Intr oduction 24 T ASCAM CD-RW900 When audio signal is not detected more than ve sec- onds, the CD-RW900 automatically will stop recor ding and enters recor d standby mode. NOTE In the Sync 1 mode, if the unit detects the signal which is under the adjusted level over ve secondsd, the Sync recording mode will be canceled.
1-Intr oduction T ASCAM CD-RW900 25 5− Advanced Recor ding Rec mute function The Rec mute function allows instant cut-off of the input signal, and recor ds four seconds of silence on the disc. While recor ding is in progress, pr ess the REC MUTE key on the remote contorl.
26 T ASCAM CD-RW900 Unfinalizing CD-RW discs If a CD-RW disc has been nalized, it is possible to erase the T able of Contents in the following way: 1 W ith the nalized disc loaded and the unit in stop mode, press the ERASE/DEL key on the front panel or the ERASE key on the remote contr ol.
T ASCAM CD-RW900 27 Erasing tracks This operation erases the specied track and all sub- sequent tracks from a r ecorded CD-RW disc. 1 During stop, press the ERASE/DEL key on the front panel or the ERASE key on the remote control. Se- lect the ERASE TRACK? rotating the MUL TI JOG dial or pressing the SKIP keys on the r emote con - trol.
28 T ASCAM CD-RW900 Titles can be given to the disc and the tracks on the disc, using the TEXT EDIT option on the TEXT sub- menu. NOTE After the title is selected and entered on the disc, and TOC lights up on the dis-play , if the power is tur ned off, the TOC will not be recor ded onto the disc, and the titles will not be added.
T ASCAM CD-RW900 29 Keyboar d type setting The CD-RW900 must be set for the type of keyboard being connected. Set the type using the sub-menu KEYBOARD option on the SYSTEM sub-menu. Select US for an English- language keyboard, or J P for a Japanese-language keyboard.
30 T ASCAM CD-RW900 T r oublshooting Symptom Possible cause and remedy There is no power to the unit. Please check the power cord is pr operly plugged in. “Disc Error!” is displayed. The disc may be dirty . Please replace the disc. Playback is not possible.
