User ’ s Manual 1. Overview The DRT16 / DRT8 DVR is an integrated digital vid eo recorder that combines the features of a time-lap se audio / video recorder , a multiplexer , and a video server to create a single security CCTV solution.

User ’ s Manual Connecting Required Devices Before power up the unit, you should connect cameras and a main monitor to the unit for basic operation. If needed, c onnect a call monitor for displaying full screen video of all instal led cameras in sequence.
User ’ s Manual V ideo Input A group of BNC connectors are availa ble for video input streams from installed cameras. The number of c onnectors is equal to the number of channels; the DRT16 / DRT8 DVR has 8/ 16 BNC connectors on the rear panel, respectively .
User ’ s Manual LAN Connector (RJ-45) The DRT16 / DRT8 DVR is capable of networki ng. The LAN port opens the door of DRT16 / DRT8 DVR to Ethernet. USB Connector (x2) There are two USB 2.0 ports on the rear panel for users to connect external USB devices to the unit, such as ThumbDrive or CD-ROM.
User ’ s Manual 3.1 Front Panel Introduction The front panel controls enable user to control the unit and preset the programmable functions. 3.1.1 LED Definition The DRT16 / DRT8 DVR LEDs on the front panel are described as follows. Power LED (Green) The LED lit during the period when the correct power is connected.
User ’ s Manual 3.1.2 Function Keys The DRT16 / DRT8 DVR functional keys on the front panel for normal operation are described as follows. NOTE: The left HDD should be set to “Master” and the right one should be set to “Slave”.
User ’ s Manual FREEZE • Press FREEZE while viewing li ve image, the liv e video will be frozen. The date / time information shown on the monitor will continue updating. Press FREEZE again to return to live mode. • Press FREEZE while playing th e recorded video, the playback video will be paused.
User ’ s Manual CALL/ COPY • In Live mode, press to enter call monitor control mode; press ESC to exit. • In Playback mode, press CALL to select the st art and end point of the video you want to export. More detailed information refer to Section 4.

The administrator ’s privileges are required for entering the submenu.
User ’ s Manual Date Display Mode This function allows user to set the OS D display type of t he date / time. There are three options to sele ct from: <Y/M/D>, <M/D /Y> or <D/M/Y>. “Y” represents “Y ear”, “M” represent s “M onth” and “D” represents “Day”.
User ’ s Manual 3.5 Record Schedule / Quality Setting The Record Setup menu allows user to set recording quality , recording schedules, and other recording paramete rs. T o setup the recording quality and schedules, you have to enter t he OSD Setup Menu with correct Administrator's password.
User ’ s Manual 3.5.2 Schedule Setup The Schedule Setup is used to set the day and night time, or weekend recording schedule. Select <Schedule Se tup> from the Record Setup menu and press ENTER; the followi ng menu is displayed. Schedule Setup 1.
User ’ s Manual 4. Basic Operation The DRT16 / DRT8 DVR allows user to access some general operations through the front panel easily . The follo wing sections introduce the general operations of the unit. 4.1 V iewing Live / Playback Video The general functions in live and pl ayback mode are described in the following sections.
User ’ s Manual • Press a CHANNEL key to view the corresponding camera in full screen. • Press ZOOM to enter a 2 × full screen zoom mode of the selected camera. • If you need to view specific area of the 2 × zoomed screen, use Direction keys to pan / tilt the zoomed ar ea around the original image.
User ’ s Manual 4 × , 8 × , 16 × , or 32 × . RIGHT (Forward Playback) The key is used to play the recorded video fast forward. Press the key repeatedly to increase the speed of forward playback by 1 × , 2 × , 4 × , 8 × , 16 × , or 32 × . FREEZE Press FREEZE to pause the playback video.
User ’ s Manual The eight windows on the top side of the screen are used to view the Live video from channel 1 to channel 8 res pectively , and the other windows allow user to view Playback image from channel 1 to channel 8.

The default of this item is <2000/01/01>. 4.6 Dome Control DRT16 / DRT8 DVR allows user to c ontrol a dome camera by the front panel.
User ’ s Manual 4.6.2 Dome Protocol Setup The Dome Protocol item lis ts the available dome pr otocols for communicating with dome cameras connected to the DRT16 / DRT8 DVR . From the Main menu, select <Camera Se tup> and press ENTER. T he following menu is displayed.
User ’ s Manual The ID number must match the ID address set by the dom e. The Unit ID is in the range of 1 to 255. The default ID is 224. Note that no two devices on the same bus should be given the same ID address, or a conflict may occur . The default DRT16 / DRT8 DVR RS-485 settings are 9600 Baud, 8 Data Bit s, 1 S top Bit and No Par ity .
