8 FEA TURES Before using this tool, familiarize yourself with all operat- ing features and safety r equirements. However , do not let familiarity with the tool make you careless. This new drill-driver is equipped with the following features. See Figure 1.

12 OPERA TION TO INST ALL BA TTER Y P ACK n Lock the switch trigger on the drill by placing the direction of rotation (forward-reverse) selector in center position. See Figure 4. n Place battery pack in the drill. Align raised rib on battery pack with the groove inside the drill.
13 SWITCH See Figure 6. T o turn your drill ON, depress the switch trigger . T o tur n it OFF , release the switch trigger . V ARIABLE SPEED See Figure 6. This tool has a variable speed switch that delivers higher speed and torque with increased trigger pressur e.
14 INST ALLING BITS See Figure 8. n Lock the switch trigger by placing the dir ection of r ota- tion selector in center position. See Figure 4. n Open or close chuck jaws to a point wher e the opening is slightly larger than the bit size you intend to use.

16 DRILLING See Figure 12. When drilling hard smooth surfaces use a center punch to mark desir ed hole location. This will pr event the drill bit from slipping off center as the hole is started. However , the low speed featur e allows starting holes without center punching if desired.
17 CHUCK REMOV AL See Figures 13, 14, and 15. The chuck must be removed in order to use some acces- sories. T o remove: n Lock the switch trigger by placing the direction of ro- tation selector in center position. See Figure 4. n Insert a 5/16 in. or lar ger hex key into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely .
