1 Introduction English Introduction The S8 Escape II Auto self -adjusting sleep apnea system is indicated for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in adult patients. The S8 Escape II Auto self-adjusting slee p apnea system has two treatment m odes: auto-titrating APAP and fixed-pressure CPAP.
2 Parts of the S8 Escape II Auto System Your S8 Escape II Auto system comprises: • S8 Escape II A uto device • 2 m air tubing • P ow er cord • Carr y bag. Optional components include: • ResSca n™ Dat a Card • 3 m air tubing • DC-1 2 con verter .
3 Using the S8 Escape II Auto English Using the S8 Escape II Auto Setting Up the S8 Escape II Auto 1 Connect the power cord to the socket at the rear of the device. 2 Plug the other end of the power cord into the power outlet. 3 Connect one end o f the air tubing firmly onto the air outlet.
4 How to Use the Control Panel The control panel of the S8 Escape II Auto includes an LCD screen which displays the menus and treatment scre ens as well as a keypad for navigating through the menus and delivering treatment.
5 Using the S8 Escape II Auto English 3 Alter the ramp/settle time if required. 4 To start treatment, press . 5 Fit your mask as described in the mask user instructions. ! WARNING A mask should no t be used unless the S8 Escape II Auto is turned on and operating properly.
6 You can set the ram p/settle time in 5-mi nute intervals, from 0 minutes (OFF) up to a maximum time set by your clinician. The current ramp or settling time is displayed in the right co rner of the standby screen. 1 Press or until the desired ramp or settling time appears.
7 Using the Data Card to Collect data English Your clinician can set any of the following remin ders on your LCD: Using the Data Card to Collect data If your clinician needs to review your treatment, they will ask you to use the Data Card to copy data from your S8 Escape II Auto, and to return the card to them.
8 Using the Data Card to Update Settings If your clinician has provided a Da ta Card with new device settings: 1 With the device in standby mode, insert th e Data Card into the slot on the Data Card module. Updating wi ll start automatically. The “Card Inserted Plea se Wait” mes sage is displayed on the LCD while updating is in progress.

CAUTION • Do not hang the air t ubing in direct sunlight as it may harden over time and eventually crac k. • Do not use bleac h , c hlori ne, alcohol, or aromatic-based solutions, moisturising or antibacter ial soaps or scented oils to clean the air tubi ng or the S8 device.
10 ! CAUTION • Do not at tempt to open the S8 Escape II Auto case. There are no user serviceable par ts inside. • Inspection and repa ir should only be performed by an authorized agent. Under no circumstances sh ould you attempt to serv ice or repair the S8 Escape II Auto your self .
11 T roubleshooting English Can I travel with the S8 Series II? Your S8 Series II has an internal power supply that enables it to operate in other countries. It will operate on power supplie s of 100–240V and 50/60Hz. No special adjustment is necessary, but you will require an approved power cord for the region in which you are using the device.
