C2647M-B (10/09) 3 Introduction This manual describes how to inst all a replacement hard disk dr ive or upgrad e to a higher capacity hard disk drive in a DVR5100 Series hy brid video recorder (HVR).
4 C2647M-B (10/09) Installing the Hard Disk Drive Replacement Kit GETTING STARTED 1. Familiarize yourself with the instructi ons in this document. 2. V erify that you have all th e necessary parts and tools (refer to Parts and T ools on page 3). 3. If possible, export all essent ia l video before you install a new hard disk d r ive.
C2647M-B (10/09) 5 6. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the chassis cover (refer to Figure 1). a. Remove all 10 s crews from the DVR (four screws on ea ch side and two on the back). Se t aside the scre ws. Figure 1. Removing the Screws b. Slide the chassis cover back and up (refer to Figure 2).

Using a Phillips screwdriver , remove and set aside the two screws that secu re the hard disk drive cage to the bottom of t he chassis.
C2647M-B (10/09) 7 b. Lift up an d slide the cage out from under the retaine r bracket. T wo tabs along the bottom of the cage secure the cage to the bottom of the chassis. Figure 5. Removing the Hard Disk Drive Cage c. Remove the po wer and data ca bles from both drives in the cage.
8 C2647M-B (10/09) d. Using a Phillips screwdriver , remove an d set aside the four screws that secure the drive to the sides of the cage. Figure 7. Removing the Screws from the Hard Disk Drive in the Cage e. Slide the drive out of the cage. Avoid scratching the bottom of the drive against the metal sides or the bottom of the cage.
C2647M-B (10/09) 9 4. T o reinstall the hard disk dr ive cage in the chassis: a. Attach the po wer and data c ables to both drives. b. Place th e cage in the chassis and guide the tabs un der the retainer brac ket. Figure 9. Inserting the Hard Disk Drive Cage into the Chassis c.
10 C2647M-B (10/09) REASSEMBLING THE UNIT 1. Replace the chassis co ver using th e screws you re moved from the sides an d rear of the unit (refer to Figure 1 on page 5). 2. Reinstall the unit in a ra ck enclosure, if necessary , and then reconnect all cables and perip heral equipment you removed earlier .
