6 Fr ont & Rear P anels For detailed information, refer to the pages in parentheses. A ST ANDBY/ON button (16) This button is used to set the TX-8011 to On or Standby . B ST ANDBY indicator (16) This indicator lights up when the TX-8011 is in Standby mode, and it flashes while a signal is being receiv ed from the remote controller .
7 Front & Rear P anels —Continued A STEREO MODE A UT O/FM MUTE ON indicators (19) These indicators light up when the tuner is tuned to an FM station and Stereo mode is selected. B STEREO MODE MONO/FM MUTE OFF indicators (19) These indicators light up when the tuner is tuned to an FM station and Mono mode is selected.
8 Front & Rear P anels —Continued A Grounding scre w (14) This screw is for connecting a turntable’ s ground wire. B AM ANTENNA (12, 13) These push terminals are for connecting an AM antenna. C FM ANTENNA (12, 13) This socket is for connecting an FM antenna.

10 Remote Controller —Continued Notes: • The batteries should last for about six months, although this will vary with usage. • If the remote controller doesn’t w ork reliably , try replacing the batteries. • Don’t mix ne w and old batteries or dif ferent types of batteries.
11 Connections Before you connect your speakers, read the follo wing: • Disconnect the po wer cord from the wall outlet. • Read the instructions supplied with your speakers.
12 Connections —Continued Adjusting the P osition of the FM Indoor Antenna The FM indoor antenna is for indoor use only . Extend the antenna fully and point it in various directions to find the best reception. Secure it in that position with thumbtacks or something similar .
13 Connections —Continued If you cannot achiev e good reception with the supplied indoor FM antenna, try a commercially av ailable out- door FM antenna instead. Notes: • Outdoor FM antennas work best outside, b ut usable results can sometimes be obtained when installed in an attic or loft.
14 Connections —Continued Use an RCA audio cable to connect the TX-8011’ s CD IN L/R jacks to the analog audio output jacks on your CD player , as sho wn.

16 Connections —Continued Notes: • Bef ore connecting the power cord, connect all of y our speakers and components. •T urning on the TX-8011 may cause a momentary po wer surge that might interfere with other electrical equipment on the same circuit.
17 Pla ying Y our Components This chapter explains ho w to use the TX-8011 with your other components. Y ou can use a graphic equalizer by connecting it to the T APE 2 IN/OUT jacks and selecting T APE 2. Y ou can adjust the bass, treble, and balance. Y ou can temporarily mute the TX-8011.
18 Playing Y our Components —Continued W ith the sleep timer , you can set the TX-8011 so that it automatically turns off after a specified period. To cancel the sleep timer , press the remote controller’ s [SLEEP] button repeatedly until the SLEEP indicator disappears.
19 Using the T uner W ith the built-in tuner , you can enjoy AM and FM radio stations, and you can store your fa vorite stations as pre- sets for quick selection. When tuned into a stereo FM station, the TUNED and STEREO indicators appear on the display , as shown.
20 Using the T uner —Continued Y ou can store up to 30 of your fa vorite radio stations as presets, 10 in each group (A, B, C). Presetting Radio Stations 1 T une into the station that you want to store as a preset. 2 Press the [MEMOR Y] b utton. The MEMOR Y indicator appears.
21 Recor ding This chapter explains ho w to record the selected input source to an audio component with recording capability , and how to dub from one cassette recorder to another . The effect of a graphic equalizer connected to the T APE 2 IN/OUT jacks will not be recorded.
22 Tr oubleshooting If you hav e any trouble using your TX-8011, look for a solution in this section. If you can’t resolv e the issue yourself, contact your Onkyo dealer . Can’t turn on the TX-8011? • Make sure that the po wer cord is properly plugged into the wall outlet.
