6 F eatur es Memory Preser v ation This unit does not require memory preservation batteries. A built-in memory power backup system preserves the contents of memory during power failures and even when the power cord is unplugged. The power cord must be plugged in order to charge the backups system.

8 Notes on Discs This section shows you how to handle, clean, and store discs. Playable Discs This DVD Changer Receiver can playback the following discs.
9 Playback side Cleaning Discs • Fingerprints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration. Wipe the disc from the center outwards with a soft cloth. Always keep the disc clean. • If you cannot wipe off the dust with a soft cloth, wipe the disc lightly with a slightly moistened soft cloth and finish with a dry cloth.

17 P ositioning Speakers ■ Standar d speaker placement of the FRONT SPEAKERS A system Speaker placement plays an important role in the reproduction of Surround sound. The placement of the speakers varies depending on the size of the room and the wall coverings used in the room.

21 21 ANTENNA ANTENNA Connecting an FM Outdoor Antenna If the FM reception is not very clear with the supplied antenna, connect an FM outdoor antenna instead of the indoor FM antenna. Notes • Install the antenna well away from tall buildings and in an area where FM stations can directly be received.
22 22 Pr eparing the Remote Contr oller Inser ting the Batteries 1 Detach the battery cover b y pressing the tab and pulling up the cover . 2 Insert the two size AAA/R03 batteries. Be sure to match the + and – ends of the batteries with the diagram inside the battery compartment.
23 23 Before connecting • Make sure that all the connections from pages 15 to 21 are complete (the connection to the TV is required). • T urning on the DVD Changer Receiver may cause a momentary power surge, which might interfere with other electrical equipment such as computers.

25 25 Press DIST ANCE. The distance entry display for the front left and right speakers appears. Press 5 / ∞ to select the front left and right speaker distance. Y ou can select a distance between 1 ft. and 30 ft. (0.3 m and 9 m). Note • Press and hold the DIST ANCE button to switch between feet and meters.

27 Enjoying the Sound Effects The surround sound of the DVD Changer Receiver enables you to enjoy the presence of a movie theater or concert hall in your room. Before using any sound effect, make sure the Speaker Setup configurations have been set (see pages 24-26).

31 V arious Functions Common to all the Sour ces Adjusting the V olume The volume of the front left and right, center , surround left and right, and subwoofer speakers will be adjusted at the same time. When headphones are connected (see next page), you can adjust the volume of the sound through the headphones.
