It is strongly recommended that each operator read and understand this entire manual before operating the outboard.

These self‑locking nuts must never be replaced with common nuts (nonlocking) as they will work loose and vibrate off, freeing the link rod to disengage.

FEATURES AND CONTROLS 48 eng Power Trim and Tilt The outboard has a trim/tilt control called power trim. This enables the operator to easily adjust the position of the outboard by pressing the trim switch. Moving the outboard in closer to the boat transom is called trimming in or down.

A decal on the transom bracket reminds the owner to check the fasteners securing the outboard to the transom before each use.
OPERATION eng 53 Operating in Freezing Temperatures When using your outboard or having your outboard moored in freezing or near freezing temperatures, keep the outboard tilted down at all times so the gearcase is submerged.
OPERATION 54 eng EXAMPLE: An engine running at an elevation of 8,000 feet will have over a 30% power loss while a loss of engine power on a hot and humid day could be as much as 14%.
