13 3.2 Hard-Disk Driv e Installat ion The NVR is equ ipped with t wo com partments of hard disk dri ve. The un it us uall y comes with on e hard-disk driv e installed i n the c ompartm ent HD1, whic h is def ault-conf igured as a m aster .
14 3.3 Sy stem Information Y ou can displa y system settings inform ation as s hown on T abl e 3.3 A belo w at any time by pressing the Display button . In the playbac k m ode, the recor ded video inform ation is d ispla yed. In the live or recording m ode, th e Manual Rec ordin g inform ation is displa yed.
15 3.4 Up dating Syst em Sof tware If the s y stem sof tware of the NVR- 2018 nee ds to be u pgraded, p lease tak e the follo wing steps to safel y update it. Important : Before carrying out the follow ing p rocedures, please ensure t he SD card is w orking and the f ile of system software is intact 1.

BA SIC OPERA TIONS This s ection shows you how to operate and manage the NVR when it gets in the way . 4.1 Configuring Recording Settings Recording Time settings (Image R esolution and Image Qualit y Setting) Recordi ng time will var y de pendin g on the im age size, qual ity , and the capacit y of the har d-disk drives.
17 4.2 Recording Operations This section details the way to recor d video into hard-disk drives . Before com m encing with the recording function, pleas e configur e the recording setting pr operly according to y our needs.
18 NOTE: Y ou can pro ceed to start the s cheduled recordin g from t he cur rent ti me if it is in the scheduled interlude as soon as setting is completed, and come out from menu to st art recording.

23 4.2.5 External ly triggered Recording By connec ting the RECORD IN of ALARM I/O on the r ear panel of the NVR, y ou can activate/deactivate the rec ording func tion of a NVR. Please r efer to sec tion 2.3 for m ore details. NOTE: The status of reco rding operat ions wh en an alarm takes place are show n in the diagrams below .
24 4.3 Play back Operations This s ection sho ws you ho w to operate the fast, s low , and s ingle- picture p layback functions , and details how the unit is to playbac k a file in a d ifferent operati on status. Pl ease ref er to the f ollowing paragrap hs specif ying the r eleva nt de tails.
25 4.3.2 Slow Forw ard/ Reverse There ar e 5 speeds available f or a slow play back : 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32. W hile playing back recorded video at the rec orded speed: (1) Press th e P AUSE button f or the slow playback m ode.
26 4.4 Search Operations This s ection shows you how to access rec orded video. 4.4.1 Full List Search T ake the f ollowing steps to proceed with the full-lis t search f unction. (1) Press th e Search button to enter the search m ode. (2) Sel ect the FULL LIS T and pr ess the Ent er button to ac cess the c omplete list of recor ded video.
27 4.4.3 TIME Search T ake the f ollowing steps to proceed with the time- list searc h function. (1) Press th e Search button to enter the search m ode. (2) Sel ect the TIM E SEA RCH and press the Enter button to access the time- setting page. (3) Set the tim e period you w ish to sear ch for the r ecorded video.
28 (5) Ther e are 5 levels of rec ording ra nge m odes to choose f rom : 1 Hour , 10 M inutes, 1 Minute, 10 Seconds and 1 Second. Select the specific field of your requirem ent and press the Enter button to enter t he next level.
29 4.5 Backup Operations 4.5.1 Mobi le Rack HD Backup Operati ons There ar e three way s available to duplicate the r ecorded video fr om HD 1 ( Fixed HD) to HD 2 (Mobile Rack HD). Please tak e the following steps to proceed. (1) Set HD 2 to BACKUP first.

34 5.1 LAN CA MERA S ETTING This page allow s you can select your desired LAN Cam era, whose im ages you can save in the NVR hard disk . The login nam e and password mus t be entered corr ectly . IP / ACCOUNT : Set the des ired c hannel, entering its num ber (1 to 8) in the given spac e.

40 MAX REC RA T E: This option is used f or lim iting the num ber of pictures recorded e very secon d into a storage dis k. The rec ording rat e controls the max imum of the f requenc y at which the n umber of video pic tures can be recor ded. ● There ar e 4 different rec ording rates you can selec t fr om: UNLIMIT , 30F/S, 20F/S, and 10F/S.
41 5.3 CLOCK / TIMER / SEQ SETTING The NVR provides a weekly t able, cons isting of two periods of time eac h day for s cheduled recor ding. This option allows you to set the time eac h day that the NVR will start and stop rec ording. CLOCK SETT ING: This entry allows users to set the system tim e.
42 SEQUENCER: To regulate dwell t ime of the sequencer , you can use t he “ ^ ” button and the “ v ” button to selec t dwell t ime provi ded here , rang ing from the " 00 " to t he " 30 ".you c an set i ndividu al chann els in d iffer ent dwell t ime.
43 MAX REC RA TE: This option is the n umber of pictur es recor ded every s econd into a stor age dis k when an al arm input is activate d. Ther e are 2 d ifferent recor d speeds you can select UNLIMIT or REM A IN. If y ou select REMAIN for use, the devic e will record im ages at the sam e speed as s et on the REC page.
44 5.5 COMMUNICA TION This option all ows you t o conf igure the sta tus of the RS-232 c omm unication po rt when c onnected t o an external device, a nd the Ethernet c omm unications settings.

46 5.6 DISK SETTING REFORMA T : This option allows y ou to clear out all the data in the hard-dis k drive. Y ou will be required to enter the pre-set password bef ore proc eeding with clearing out the data. Enter the standard password “9999” if y ou don’t set your individual password.
47 5.7 SYSTEM SETTING This page is used for ac cess ing the histor y of the o peratio n status, settin g the password , resum ing factor y default, and deter mining the m enu display background. OPERA TION LOG: This log shows the history of the operation status in chr onological order .

RS-232 Protocol 6.1 Setup 6.1.1 Use a Null Modem cable (the s tandard RS-232 9 Pin Cable with Pin 2 and Pin 3 exchanged, see pin configur ation chart below for details) to connect the COM 1 on the rear panel of the NVR to a PC. NVR 6.1.2 Set the RS-232 option to ON in the COMM UNICA T ION page of the setup menu.

54 6. 6. Secure the driver in the rack using two mounting s crews in both the side-m ounting holes. Please don’t tighten the screws too m uch, otherwise that may damage the driver . 7. 8. 7. Screw the rack in to the de vice, screw ing in all the four s crews.

67 9.2 The Image Viewer This is image integr ity -protec t software. It not only allow s you to view an archived im age f rom the SD card or HDD of a com puter , but also pr otects an archived im age fr om repr oduction or interpolation.
68 10. Index T able The f ollowing description details how the NVR manages an index table issue. The NVR will generate a tim e index table indicating rec orded data is kept in a partic ular HDD. This allows to individually select ing recorded data to be displayed via the alarm lis t search and f ull list search.

71 NOTE: This function can only w ork if the LA N which the unit is connected to has a DHCP server . If the DHCP server is working, the NVR will obtain an IP address automatically from the DHCP server . In that case please skip the section 1 1.2.2 (Set IP address) and follow section 3.
72 NOTE: When connecting to a netw ork, each connected NVR must be assign ed a unique IP , w hich must be in the same class t ype as your netw ork address. IP addre sses are writt en as four sets of nu mbers separated by periods; for exa mple, 192.168.
