P age 5 WARNING The product should be connected to an AC outlet of the specified voltage. ● I f you are going to use an AC power cord, make sure that its has the correct plug shape and conforms to the specified power voltage. ● Failure to do so may result in fire.

P age 9 1 P ART NAMES AND FUNCTIONS PED ALS The CN22 digital piano f eatures three pedals—just like a gr and piano: Damper , Sostenuto and Soft. ¡ Damper pedal Sustains the sound after hands are lifted from the ke yboard. The damper pedal is also capable of responding to half pedaling.
P age 10 2 GETTING ST ARTED 2. GETTING ST AR TED 1) BASIC OPERA TIONS This section provides the basic procedures f or tur ning the power on and pla ying the CN22 digital piano. Step 1 Connect one end of the A C power cab le to the CN22 digital piano’ s po wer jack and the other end of the cab le to a wall A C outlet.
P age 11 2 GETTING ST ARTED DEMONSTRA TION SONGS The internal demonstration songs provide an e xcellent introduction to the capabilities of the CN22 digital piano . Each preset sound is introduced by a diff erent piece of music, as shown belo w . Concer t Grand .
P age 12 2 GETTING ST ARTED SELECTING A SOUND When power is turned on, the Concer t Grand sound will be selected automatically . There are 15 sound types and three methods to select diff erent sounds. ¡ Method 1 Press the SOUND SELECT button repeatedly to cycle through the 15 sounds until the desired sound is selected.
P age 13 2 GETTING ST ARTED 2) DU AL The DU AL function allows two preset sounds to be la yered together , creating a more comple x sound. F or example , a piano can be layered with strings, or a church organ with a choir sound.
P age 14 2 GETTING ST ARTED 3) FOUR HANDS The FOUR HANDS function divides the ke yboard of the CN22 digital piano into separate Lower and Upper sections, adjusting the octav e/pitch of each section to allow two people to pla y the piano together .
P age 15 2 GETTING ST ARTED 4) METR ONOME Rh ythm is one of the most impor tant elements when lear ning music. It is impor tant to practise pla ying the piano at the correct tempo and with a steady rh ythm. The CN22 digital piano’s metronome function helps learners to achie ve this b y providing a steady beat to play along with.
P age 16 2 GETTING ST ARTED ADJUSTING THE METRONOME TEMPO The metronome has a tempo range of 10-300 beats per minute . The metronome tempo can be specifi ed precisely , or gradually decreased or increased.

P age 19 2 GETTING ST ARTED SKILLFUL These songs range in diffi culty from moderately diffi cult to diffi cult. T o perform them, tap out the rhythm of both the melody and the accompaniment notes on any k ey on the k eyboard, such as ‘W altz of the Flowers’ shown below .
P age 20 3 LESSON FUNCTION 3. LESSON FUNCTION The CN22 digital piano’ s Lesson function helps performers to practice the piano with a collection of etudes from Burgmüller and Czerny , or songs from Alfred’s Basic Piano Libr ar y (USA, Canada, A ustralia and UK only).
P age 21 3 LESSON FUNCTION LISTENING T O A LESSON SONG Bef ore practicing a lesson song, it is possible to listen to an e xample performance. Step 1 Press the PLA Y/ST OP b utton. The LED indicator f or the PLA Y/STOP b utton will tur n on, and the currently selected lesson song will star t to play .
P age 22 3 LESSON FUNCTION ¡ LISTENING T O THE RIGHT HAND P ART OF A LESSON SONG Step 1 Press the SOUND SELECT b utton twice. The LED indicator f or the SOUND SELECT button will turn on, and the LED indicator f or the METRONOME b utton will turn off.
P age 23 4 RECORDER 4. RECORDER The RECORDER function records perf or mances in a similar wa y to that of a tape recorder . Howe ver , the CN22 digital piano records songs as digital data, instead of audio data - storing the music inside the instrument, and providing a useful tool f or both practicing and playing the piano .
P age 24 4 RECORDER 2) PLA YING BA CK A SONG Press the PLA Y/ST OP b utton to star t pla ying the recorded song. Press the PLA Y/ST OP button again to stop pla yback. 3) ERASING A SONG The CN22 digital piano must be turned off in order to erase the recorded song.

FUNCTION MODE The Function Mode settings allow v ar ious advanced par ameters of the CN22 digital piano to be adjusted. 1) BASIC OPERA TION Step 1 Press and hold the METR ONOME and SOUND SELECT buttons sim ultaneously , then press one of the 10 k eys assigned to the desired function.
P age 26 5 FUNCTION MODE 2) T OUCH TYPE When pla ying a piano , the volume of the sound produced increases in direct relation to ho w hard each key is struck. The T OUCH function allows different touch sensitivities f or the keyboard to be selected, other than the standard touch of an acoustic piano .
P age 27 5 FUNCTION MODE 4) TUNING The TUNING function allows the piano’ s pitch to be fi nely adjusted, and may pro ve useful when pla ying with other instruments. The f actor y def ault value is set to the modern standard A = 440.0 Hz and can be adjusted in 0.
P age 28 5 FUNCTION MODE 6) D AMPER EFFECT When the damper pedal is depressed on an acoustic piano , all dampers are lifted up, allowing the strings to vibrate freely .
P age 29 5 FUNCTION MODE 8) MIDI CHANNEL SELECT In order to e xchange MIDI information with another MIDI instrument, the two connected instruments must be set to the same channel. Step 1 Press and hold the METR ONOME and SOUND SELECT buttons sim ultaneously , then press the ke y assigned to the MIDI CH function.
P age 30 5 FUNCTION MODE 9) MIDI LOCAL CONTR OL ON/OFF This function is used to control whether or not the sound from the CN22 digital piano will be heard when pla ying the ke yboard. When MIDI LOCAL CONTROL is set to ‘on’, sound will be heard when playing the CN22 digital piano’ s keyboard.
P age 31 5 FUNCTION MODE 10) MUL TI-TIMBRAL MODE ON/OFF The procedure described in the MIDI CHANNEL SELECT section is used to transmit or receive data on only one of the 16 MIDI channels (CH 1 - CH 16).
P age 32 5 FUNCTION MODE 11) TRANSMIT MIDI PR OGRAM CHANGE This function determines whether or not the CN22 digital piano will transmit program change inf ormation when sound types are changes. It is also possib le to transmit a program change n umber (ranging from 1 to 128) in order to change the sound type of an e xter nal MIDI sound source.
