8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting equipment This section describes how to choose and maintain your cutting equipment in order to: • Reduce the risk of blade thrust. • Obtain maximum cutting perf or mance. • Extend the lif e of cutting equipment.

Connecting thr ottle cable and stop switc h wires 1 Fit the plastic tube (B) around the throttle cable and stop s witch wires as shown. 2 Inser t the throttle cable through the cab le adjuster sleev e on the carburettor br acket.
10 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the trimmer guar d and trimmer head • Attach the cord cutter (A) to the trimmer guard using two M5x16 screws , locking washers and n uts as shown. • Fit the guard (B) to the gear housing (C) using the suppor t plate (D) and two scre ws.
English – 11 FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allo w remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
12 – English FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
English – 13 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check that the trimmer head and trimmer guard are not damaged or crac ked. Replace the trimmer head or trimmer guard if they hav e been e xposed to impact or are crac ked. • Ne ver use the machine without a guard nor with a def ective guard.
14 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine.
English – 15 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.
16 – English MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful exhaust fumes.
English – 17 MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Cooling fins on the cylinder . 2 Cylinder cov er (directs cold air ov er the cylinder).
18 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance sc hedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance that must be perf or med on the machine. Most of the items are descr ibed in the Maintenance section. The user m ust only carr y out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this Operator’ s Manual.
