4 S Mix and pour fuel in an outdoor area on bare ground; store fuel i n a cool, dry , well ventil ated plac e; and use an approv ed, marked container f or all fuel purposes. Wipe up all fuel spills before s tarting saw . S Move at least 10 f eet (3 meters ) from fuel- ing sit e before st arting engine.

7 S Fit bott om of driv e links bet ween the teeth in the sprock et in the nose of t he guide bar. S Fit c hain drive links in bar groove. S Pull the bar forward until the chai n is snug in the guide bar groove. Ensure all drive links are in the bar groove.
8 T o stop the engine move the ON/STOP switc h to the STOP position. T o start the engine hold the saw firm ly on the ground as illustrat ed. Mak e s ure the chain is free to turn wit hout contac ting any object. Hold saw firmly while pulling starter rop e Use only 15” - - - 18” of rope per pull .
9 Braking functi on control CAUTION: The chain brake must be check ed sev eral tim es daily. T he engine must be running when perf orming thi s proce- dure. This i s the only instance when the saw should be placed on the ground with the en- gine running.
10 NOTCH CUT AND F ELLING THE TREE S Make notch cut by cutti ng t he top of t he notch first. Cut through 1/3 of the diam eter of the tree. Next com plete the not ch by cut- ting the bottom of the notch. See illustra- tion. Once the n otch is cut, remove th e notch of wood from the t ree.

13 S Before storing, drain all f uel from the uni t. Start engine and all ow to run until it stops. S Clean the unit before storing. Pay particular attenti on to the air intake area, keeping it free of debris. Use a mild detergent and sponge to clean th e plastic surfaces.
