It is intended f or APC custom ers w ho setu p, install, relocate, or maintain A PC equipment.
990 -7096 Rev. 2 2 Deenergizing Safety • This UPS has an intern al energy source (the battery ), the output may be energized w hen th e unit is not connected to an A C power outlet. • To d eenergize the UPS: first press the Off button to switch th e outputs off.

5 990-7096 Rev . 2 Mount the UPS in the Rack Select a location with adequate air f low that is free f rom excessive dust. Ensure that the air vents on the front and rear of the UPS are not blocked. Allow at least 2.54 cm (1 inch) of space on both sides.

990 -7096 Rev. 2 8 The UPS charg es its battery whenev er it is connected to utility pow er. The battery charges fully during the first four hours of norm al operation. Do not expect full run time during this initial charge period. • The unit perform s a self -test autom atically wh en turned on , and every two w eeks thereafter (by defau lt).
9 990-7096 Rev . 2 C HA PTER 4: O PER A TION Front Panel This rack m ount UPS has th e power con trol and operating in dicators located on the f ront panel. 0 | TES T Operation The ON and OFF buttons con trol the pow er to the outlets on the UPS. They can be u sed as a mas ter On/Off switch for the conn ected equipm ent.

11 990- 7096 Rev. 2 Battery Power If the utility power f ails, the UPS can provide power to the connected equipm ent from its in ternal battery f or a finite period. The UPS sounds an alarm, f our beeps every 30 seconds, w hile operating on battery pow er.
990 -7096 Rev. 2 12 Rear Panel The rear panel has the input and output conn ectors, computer interface port, and m anual settings for the low battery w arning level an d voltage sensitivity indicator.
13 990- 7096 Rev. 2 Low Battery W arning Level By def ault, the low battery w arnin g occurs w hen there are approxim ately tw o m inutes of on-battery run time remaining. This may not be enough time to gracefully shut down some protected compu ter sys tems .

990 -7096 Rev. 2 16 1. Face the front of the UPS and, usin g both hands , insert each index fin ger behind the lip of the curv ed section of the front panel bezel and pu ll towards y ou. The fron t panel bezel will u nsnap. 2. Set the bezel aside. 3. Take out the w hite cord, w hich is tu cked into the space above the battery connector .

Revi ew th e problem s discu ssed in Troubleshoot ing , page 17, to eli min ate comm on problem s. 2. Verify that no circuit breakers are tripped – this is the m ost com mon UPS problem! 3.
