Before wet sanding, remov e the masking tape from the fretboard and carefully scrape any ex ces s finish of f the fretboard with a razor blade or c hisel held perpend icular to the sur face , as shown in Figure 8 .

Secure the 5 ⁄ 32 " drill bit in the drill press chuck, raise the table, and set the neck, fretboard - down, on top of a clean piece of scrap wood on the table.

The closer the strings are to the pickup, the higher the audio output signal will be. If the strings are too close, distortion is caused by magnetic interference from the elec - tronic components.
H8070 Heirloom T elecaster -St yle Guitar Kit -23- 4. Tune the 4th string by playing the 5th string while it is being pressed (fretted) at the 5th fret, and then play the open 4th string. Adjust the 4th string tuner until the notes match. 5. Perform the same tuning step on the 3rd and 4th string.
