Drain Line Connection 1. Ideally located, the unit will be above and not more than 20 feet (6.1 m) from the drain. For such inst allations, use an appr opriate adapter fitting (not supplied), to connect 1/2-inch (1.3-cm) plastic tubing to the drain line connection of the control valve.
Overflow Line Connection In the absence of a safety overflow and in the event of a malfunction, the BRINE T AN K OVERFLOW will direct “o verflow” to the drain instead of spilling on the floor where it cou ld cause con siderable dama ge. This fitting should be on the side of the cabinet or brine t ank.
Increasing the Length of the T ransformer Cord If it is necess ary to extend the length of the transf ormer cord, a n optional 15 -foot (4.6-m) ex tension is av ailable (see Fig ure 9).
Sodium or Calcium Hypochlorite Application These materials ar e satisfactory for use with polystyrene re sins, synthetic gel zeolite, greensand an d bentonites. 5.25% Sodium Hypochlorite These solutions are availab le under trade names such as Clorox*.

Plug the transfo rmer into the transformer plug recept acle on the control. Open the access door by pushing the raised tab on the door toward the lef t while pulling the tab out (Figure 12).
Hardness Setting Move the jumper to the set of pins next to the word HARDNESS (Figure 14). Press the bla ck TIME SET button until t he hardness of the incoming wate r supply is displayed.
4. Depress the black TIME SET button. The numbers will roll fr om “0” to “15.” Release the switch at the de sired number of days for the calendar override. For example, releasing the switch at “10” would pr ogram a 10-day calendar override.
*This setting requires the use of “XS” (e xtra salt) cam and double s the amount of the setting. The amount of salt placed in the brine t ank has nothing to do with the amount of salt used during the regeneration cycle. Wa ter will di ssolve and absorb salt only until it becomes satura ted.
Preventive Maintenance Inspect and clean brine t ank and screen f ilter on end of brine pickup tube once a year or when sediment ap pears in the bottom of the brine tank. Clean injector scr een an d injector once a year : 1. Unplug the wall-mount transformer .
