7 A IR S HUTTER : Air Shutter Adjustment Nut Figure 5: Air Shutter Adjustment. The air shutter is controlled by sliding the air shutter adjustment screw (shown in Figure 5) either forwards or backwards. The adjustment screw, for the primary air , is located on the bottom of the rebox.

The ames should be of medium height. If the ames look like this (ref er to Figure 59 or the Front Cover), no adjustment is needed.
9 Maintenance And Ser vice R OUTINE M AINTENANCE : At least once a year , run through the following procedures to ensure the system is clean and working properly . Check the burner to see i f all the ports are clear and clean. Check the pilot to make sure it is not blocked by anything.
10 Figure 9: Install the Rock Set Burner to the Firebox. Maintenance And Ser vice R EPLACING THE G LASS : IMPORTANT: Do not operate with the glass front removed, cracked or broken. The glass in the replace is a high temperatur e ceramic. If the glass is damaged in any way , a factory replacement door is required (see P ARTS L IST ).
T o instal l the burner: 1. Insert the mixing tube into the mixing tube box (ref er to Figure 8 or 9). 2. When the burner is resting in the rebox ensure that the front edge of the burner is lined up with the front lip of the rebox (see Figure 10 or 11).

When planning your installation, it will be necessary to select the proper length of vent pipe f or your particular requirements. It is important to note when passing through a wall, the maximum al low able wall thickness is 10 inches (25.4 cm); 1 inches (3.

The restrictor is designed to maintain ame appearance when installing this unit with vertical chimneys as well as installations with longer horizontal vent applications.

Initial Inst alla tion QUALIFIED INST ALLERS ONL Y E LECTRICAL R EQUIREMENTS F OR G AS V ALVE AND O PTIONAL B LOWER : The ENVIRO CARA will operate without electrical power . This model has a millivolt gas control, which uses the pilot ame to generate enough electricity to operate the main burners.

I NSTALLATION OF R OCK S ET : If the rocks are posi tioned incorrectly , the ames can be “pinched” and will not burn correctly . If the rocks are broken due to handling or shipping, replace the rocks with new ones. Using the pictures provided, carefully set the rocks in place.

Second ar y Inst alla tion Important note: When the unit is turned on for the rst time, it should be turned onto high without the fan on for the rst four (4) hours. This will cure the paint, rockss, gasket material and the other products used in the manufacturing pr ocess.
37 T rouble Shooting Problem Possible Cause Solution The main burner does not ignite when called for . The gas valv e may not be on. • Check that the gas control knob is in the “ON” position. Thermostat is not calling for heat. • Adjust the thermostat several degr ees above ambient temperature.
