5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and connection instructions” . • If the appliance is deliver ed in the winter months when ther e are mi- nus temperatur es: store the washing machine at r oom temp er ature for 24 hours befor e using for the first time.
6 • Switch off the washing machine prior to cleaning it and carrying out maintenance. In addition, remove the power plug fr om the power point or – if the appliance has been har d -wir ed – switch off the c ut- out in the fuse box or completely remove the fuse.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 1 litr e of water through the detergent dr awer into the washing machin e. This closes the water container when the next pr ogramme is started and the economy valve can function properly 3.
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/loading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and START/P A USE indica- tor s show whether the door can be opened: 2. Separate washing and load it loose- ly .
12 har dness r ange 1 (=soft). Y our local water company will pr ovide you with information about water hardness in your ar ea. 1. Pull out the deter gent dr awer as far as it will go. 2. Add the deter gent/conditioner . 3. Push the deter g ent dr awer in fully .
13 Changing the spin speed /selecting rinse hold The washing machin e suggests the maximum permitted sp in speed suitable for the selected pro- gr amme. Y ou can reduce this spin speed: T o do this, pr ess the Spin/RINSE HOLD button repeatedly until the r equired indicator is illuminated.
14 PRE W ASH W arm pre -wash befo r e the m ain wash that follows automatically; with intermediate spin for COTT ONS/LI NEN and EASY -CARES, without inter- mediate spin for DELICA TES. ST AIN For heavily soiled or stained washing. Stain removal agent will be rinsed into the wash at the optimum point in the pr ogramme.
15 Pr ogramme sequence • The progr amme progr ess display shows the progr amme step that is curr ently being carried out. • The multi-display shows the estimated time re maining (in minutes) until the end of the pr og r amme.
16 End of the wash cycle / removing the washing At the end of the progr amme, END lights up on the progr amme pr ogress display . The door can be opened as soon as the DOOR indicator is lit green. 1. Open the loading door and remove the washing. 2. T urn the pr o gr amme knob to OFF .
17 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise di- r ection as far as it will go.
18 Cleaning and maintenance Important! Do not use furnitur e care pr oducts or aggressive cleaner s to clean the app liance. Wipe contr ol panel and body with a damp cloth. Cleaning pr ocedure If you plan to wash mainly at lo w temper ature, you should run a hot pr ogramme fr om time to time.
19 Door and rubber collar Regularly check whether deposits or for eign bodies are pr esent in the folds of the rubber collar or on the inside of the glass door .
20 E10 appear s. The END indicator is flashing once, and si- multaneously an acous- tic signal is sounding once. (Pr oblems with the wa- ter inflow .) The tap is shut off. Turn on the tap. The filter in the inlet ho se screw connection is bl ocked. Turn off the tap.

22 If the wash r e sult is not satisfactory The washing is grey and ther e are limescale deposits in the drum • Too little deter gent was used. • An incorr ect deter gent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set properly .
23 Carrying out an emer gency drain 1 Wa r n in g ! Prior to carrying out an emergency dr ain, switch off the washing machine and r emove the pow er plug from the power point. Wa r n in g ! The water that comes out of the emergency dr ain hose may be hot.
24 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-free. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if ther e is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Befor e loading the machine, please always ensur e that ther e ar e no for- eign bodies pr esent in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
25 Disposal 2 P ackaging material The packaging materials are envir onm entally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components are id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appr opriate container at your lo cal wa ste disposal facilities.

27 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Befor e using for the firs t time, ch eck the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being tr anspor ted.
28 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 Wa r n in g : The washing machine is very heavy . Ther e is a risk of injury . Exer cise care when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay th e washing machine on its fr ont nor on its right side (as seen fr om the front).
29 2. Remove the power supply cable and the draining hose from the hose holder s on the rear of the appliance. 3. With a suitable spanner unscrew and re m ov e t h e ce n t ra l re ar b o l t A . Slide out the r elevant plastic spacer . 4. U ns c re w a nd re m o ve t h e tw o l a rg e r ear bolts B and the six smaller bolts C .
30 5. Remove the br acket D. 6. Tighten up the six smaller bolts C . 7. Open the porthole and remove the polystyrene block fitted with the ad- hesive tape on the door seal. 8. Fill the smaller upper hole and the two large ones with the corr espond- ing plastic plug caps supplied in the bag containing the instruction booklet.
31 Connect the water inlet hose as described under the par agr aph “Water inlet” . Wher e to install Important! The washing machine must not be operated in a r oom wher e there is a danger of frost. Ther e is a risk of frost damage or ad- vers e effect on the perfomance of the machine.
32 Making the appliance level The four feet of the appliance are pr e-adjusted. Lar ge degrees of unevenness can be compensated for by individually ad- justing the height adjustable screw feet.
33 • The wir e coloured blue must be connected to the terminal “N“ or colour ed black. • The wir e coloured br own must be connected to the terminal marked “L“ or colou red r ed. • Upon completion there must be no c ut , o r s t ray st ra nd s o f wi re present and the cor d clamp must be secure over the outer sheath.
34 Connecting to the water supply P e rmitted water pr essure The water pr essure must be at least 1 bar (= 1 0 N/cm 2 = 0.1 MP a), and may be a maximum of 1 0 bar (= 1 00 N/cm 2 =1M P a ) . – If mor e than 1 0 bar: Connect a pressur e reduction valve.
35 4. Connect the hose to a tap with a 3/4” thr ead. Always use the hose supplied with the appliance. Wa t e r Dra i n a g e The appliance drain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the dr ain hose is formed using the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied.
36 The upright standpipe should have a minimum, length of 30 cm (12’’) fr om the bottom of the el- bow to the top of the pipe (see diagr am). Make sure that it is de- signed in such a way that the end of the drain hose cannot be cove- r ed with water .
