Safety Precautions E-2 Water and Fo reign Ma tter Water, other liquids, and fo reign matter (such as piec es of metal) getting into th e product create the risk of fire and electric shock. Take the following steps immedia tely. 1. Turn off power. 2. If you are using the AC adaptor for power, unplug it from the wall outlet.

Connecting to a Power Outlet E-14 Connecting to a Pow er Outlet You can power this digital piano by plugging it into a standard household powe r outlet. Be sure you turn of f power and unplug the power cor d from the electrical outlet whenever the digital piano is n ot in use.

Basic Operations E-18 Basic Op eration s This section provides information on perform ing basic piano operations. 1. Press the POWER button to turn on the piano. 2. Use the MAIN VOLUME knob to set the volume to a relatively low level. 3. Play somethi ng on th e keyboard.
E-19 Basic Operations The term polyphony ref ers to the maximum nu mber of notes you can play at the same ti me. This piano has 64-n ote polyphony, which includes the notes yo u play as well as the rhythms and au to-accompaniment pat terns that are played by the piano.
Basic Operations E-20 With split you can assign two different tones (a mai n tone and a split tone) to either end of th e keyboard, which lets you play one tone with your l eft hand and a nother tone with yo ur right hand. 1. Select the main tone. 2. Press the SPLIT button.

Auto Accompaniment E-22 Auto Accompaniment This piano au tomatically plays bass and chord parts in accordance with the chords yo u finger. The bass and cho rd parts are played using so unds and tones tha t are automatically selected to match the rhythm you are using.
E-23 Auto Accompaniment The built-in rhythms are divided among 6 groups, with each group assigned to a RHYTHM button on the control pan el. 1. See the Rhythm Reference at the back of this manual (page A-10) for information about the RHYTHM button names for each of the buil t-in rhythms.

E-27 Auto Accompaniment Fill-in patterns let you momentar ily change the rhythm pattern to add some interesting varia tion to your performanc es. 1. Press the START/STOP bu tton to start rhythm play. 2. Press the FILL-IN button to insert a fill-in pattern for the rhythm you are using.
Auto Accompaniment E-28 Synchro stop is the opposite of synchro start. It causes the currently playing auto accompani ment pattern to stop when the keys in the accompaniment keybo ard range are released. This feature is mor e than just a simpl e way to stop auto accompaniment play.
E-29 Auto Accompaniment When you are using auto accompani ment, auto harmoniz e automatically a dds an addit ional note t o your melody in accordance with the chord that i s being played. The result is a harmony effect that makes your melody lin e richer and fuller.
Auto Accompaniment E-30 The notes you play on the keyboard are called “melody notes”, while the notes added to the melody by auto harmonize a re called the “ harmonize notes”.
