2-14 Setting Up Chapter 2 The ink in the BJ car tridges and tanks is difficult to clean up if spilled. Follow these precautions when handling: • Carefully remove pac kaging from BJ car tridges and tanks. • Do not attempt to disassemble or refill BJ car tridges or tanks.

If this does not happen, press C (inside the unit). c • Do not try to manually move or stop the cartridge holder since this may damage the unit.

6-2 Speed Dialling Chapter 6 What is Speed Dialling? Speed dialling allows you to simplify dialling procedures b y registering a fax/telephone number(s) and name under a button or code. Y ou can then dial that number by pressing only one or a fe w buttons.

First you press Coded Dial and then you enter a two-digit code under which y ou hav e registered a fax/telephone number .

7-4 Sending F axes Chapter 7 Setting the Scanning Resolution Resolution is a measure of the fineness or clarity of a printout. Lo w resolutions may cause text and g raphics to have a jagged appear ance, while higher resolutions provide smoother cur v es and lines, crisp text and graphics, and a better match to tr aditional typeface designs.

7-6 Sending F axes Chapter 7 Dialling Methods There are sev eral wa ys of dialling the number of the par ty you want to send to . The y are as follows: • Regular Dialling Dial a fax n umber by using the numeric buttons, just like dialling a telephone n umber .
Chapter 7 Sending Fax es 7-7 Sending Faxe s Sending Methods This section describes the methods and advantages of the two main sending methods: Memor y sending and Manual sending via the handset . Memory Sending Memor y sending is a quick and easy wa y to send a document.
7-8 Sending F axes Chapter 7 5 Press Star t (Start/Scan) to begin scanning for sending, or if y ou used speed dialling, wait a fe w seconds for the unit to begin scanning automatically . • If you prefer the unit ne ver to scan a document automatically after a fe w seconds, disable the TIME OUT setting.

This section explains these tw o methods. Manual Redialling Press R (Redial)/P ause to dial the last number you dialled with the numeric buttons.
7-12 Sending F axes Chapter 7 Cancelling Automatic Redialling Automatic redialling cannot be cancelled with the Stop button while the unit is waiting to redial. F ollow this procedure to cancel automatic redialling: 1 W ait until the unit begins redialling.

7-16 Sending F axes Chapter 7 Sending a Document Using Group Dialling If you frequently send f axes to the same group of f ax numbers, you can create a group of these numbers. Groups are stored under one-touch speed dialling buttons or coded speed dialling codes.
Chapter 7 Sending Fax es 7-17 Sending Faxe s Documents Stored in Memory Printing a List of Documents in Memory Y our unit can pr int a list of documents stored in memor y , along with the transaction number ( TX/RX NO. ) of each document. Once you know the transaction number of a document in memor y , you can print it or delete it.
