4 Preparations and connections 1. T ur n the remote control o v er and remo v e the battery compar tment cov er b y pulling it up while pressing the edge of the cov er in the direction of the mark. 2. Insert the batteries (AA, R6, UM-3 type) according to the polarity mar kings on the inside of the battery compar tment.
5 English Preparations and connections Never plug the A C supply lead of this system into the A C outlet until all connections are completed. Connections Caution Do not let the bare speaker wires touch each other as this could damage the amplifier and/or speakers.

30 Recording to MD The MD recorder allows you to make recordings from a wide variety of program sources (both analog and digital). When recording an analog source (such as an LP or tape), the MD recorder converts the analog signals to 44.1 kHz digital signal before recording them onto the MD.

34 Editing and titling MD Editing an MD One of the main advantages of MD is its editing capabilities, you can remove the commercials from a radio broadcast, arrange songs into the order you want, remove songs, combine songs, even remove part of a song.
35 Editing and titling an MD m Erase This function lets you erase the entire disc , a trac k or par t of a track quic kly and easily . Y ou can also erase the title of a disc , or the titles of trac ks on a disc. Please note that once erased, the data can be recov ered by using the Undo function.
36 Editing and titling an MD m Mo ve This function lets you change the position of an y trac k. When you mo v e trac ks, all the trac ks are automatically renumbered. Example: Mo ving track 2 to the trac k n umber 4 1 Turn the jog dial or press / to select the track you want to move.
37 Editing and titling an MD m Divide This function lets you divide one trac k into two separ ate trac ks by adding a ne w trac k number to a certain point in the track.

Note, however, that these limitations are inherent to the MD recording system and are not a result of mechanical trouble.
