Location, Mounting and V entilation TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-5 Location, Mounting and V entilation When you install the Inverter into a rack, allow cooling air to reach the ventilation inlets.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-6 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 Installation into Relay Racks Use the supplied mounting brackets to secure the backplane in a relay rack.
DC Input P ower TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-7 DC Input P ower Input Connector and Cables The XDI input connector is a 2-pole , double lug terminal block with separate double studs for the ground connection. A minimum of 6 A WG copper conductor (rated 85°C minimu m) is the recommended wire gauge for all three input cables.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-8 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 4. Note the polarity on the input connector as indicated and fasten the positive and negative cable ends ont o the terminal block using the brass screws and washers provided. Ti ghten both securely .
AC Load a nd Signal Line Connection TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-9 A C Load and Signal Line Connection A C Output Connector This is a two terminal barrier strip for use with up to #12 A WG wire. The two terminals, L1 & L2 are floating outputs, L1 or L2 can be grounded to simulate a neutral conductor .
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-10 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 Load Conne ction 1. If nec ess ary , remove the output co ver by loosening the two securing nuts. Release the clamp on the strain relief and insert one end of the load wire 2. Strip and install appropriately sized spade or ring terminals on the two load lines.
AC Load a nd Signal Line Connection TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-11 User Line Connection Overview The User -line interface provides ba sic remote control and mon itoring on the Inverter using TTL logic signals. Th e avail able signals are an Inverter on/off input, faul t and Inverter-on flag s as well as a configurable auxiliary line.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-12 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 User Line Connector The user -line is a 6-position wire cl amp connector adjacent to the DC input connector . T able 2-1 lists user functions and associa ted terminal numbers. User Line Wiring Use twisted pairs of 22-24 A WG fo r connections.
AC Load a nd Signal Line Connection TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-13 CAN/SYNC Connector Overview The CAN/SYNC connector provides access to functions nece ssary for operation of multiple units in pa rallel, series or three phase. The connector is a 7-position wire clamp ad jacent to the user-line.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-14 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 CAN/SYNC Wiring Due to high bus speed, use shielded twisted p airs of 22-24 A WG for improved noise immunity . Before ma king any conne ctions, ensure power to the rack has been disconnected.
Connec tion Sche mes TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-15 Connection Schemes Stand-Alone Operati on A 120 Ohm resistor should be connec ted across the CAN-hi and CAN-lo terminals to properly term inate the bus. No other co nnections to this port are necessary for single unit operation.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-16 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 • The AC output load wires are also connected in paralle l ensuring only like terminals L1 and L2 are connect ed together at the distribution bus or load. Each inverter output sh ould be in series with a suitably rated two pole circuit breaker before being terminated at the load.
Connec tion Sche mes TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-17 Split Phase O peration Use this scheme to extend the output voltage. No more than two units should be connected in series though more can be added in parallel with either series unit. T o connect two units for split voltage, proceed as follows: • F irst ensure power to the rack has been disconnected.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-18 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 Three Phase Oper ation Overview XDI inverters can be configured fo r 3-phase operation where necessary . Synchronizing signals are used to achieve this functionality , precisely phase locking the units at 120 phase displacement.
3-Phase Synchroni za tio n and Signal Wiring TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-19 3-Phase Synchronization and Signal W iring Refer to T able 2-2 for the signal pinouts. T o achieve proper three-phas e output, units configured for each phase need to be wired to the appropriate phase.
Rack Mount F rame Asse mbly and Installation 2-20 TM-DIOP-01XN-01 3-Phase , 3-W ir e Delta Output Wi ring • All outputs should be wired through an appropriately rated circu it breaker . • On Phase-1, Connect terminal L1 to phase-3 T erminal L2. • On phase-1, connect terminal L2 to phase-2 terminal L1.
Ethernet P ort TM-DIOP-01XN-01 2-21 3-Phase , 4-W ire Y -Connection Output W iring This scheme is the same as the preced ing with the addition of a n eutral connection. • All outputs should be wired throug h an appropriately rated circuit breaker . • Connect L2 terminals of the th ree phases to the neutral bus.
