The more th orough your pla nning, the bette r your power needs wil l be met.
Choosing a Location 8 Choosing a L ocation The PROwatt 6 00 Inverter should o nly be install ed in a locati on that meets these requir ements: WARNING The PROwatt 600 c ontains components that tend to produce a r cs or sparks.
Mounting the Inverter 9 Mounting the I nverter T o mount the PROwatt 600 I nverter: 1. T urn of f the inver ter ’ s On/Off switch. 2. Sel ect an appro priate mounting l ocation and ori entation. The PROwatt mus t be orie nted in one of th ese two ways: • Horizontal ly on a verti cal surface.

Connecting DC Cab les 12 Cabling Procedure T o connect th e DC cables: 1. C ut the cab les to the c orrec t len gth. 2. St rip the appropri ate amount of ins ulation from one end of each c able and attach the connector s that will jo in the cables to the battery , battery isolator switch, or fuse block.

37 C Alternators and Charging Systems A good charging sys te m is important for the health of your batteries. Poor recharging methods can quickly damage them. Appendix C provides guidelines for recharging batteries from an alternator , from AC power , and from alternate ene r gy sources.
Char ging S ystem R equireme nts 38 Charging System Requirements Y our char ging syste m should b e capable of d e liveri ng a char ging current e qual to 10–25% of the amp-hour c apacity of your b attery . For exampl e, if you have a 200 Ah battery , the char ging system shou ld be able to del iver 50 amps.
Charging From AC Power 39 Using an Altern ator Controller If your regular alter nator is inadeq uate by itself , you can instal l an altern ator controll er that will byp ass the volt age regulat or and boost t he alternator’ s output voltag e during char ging.
