36 Chapter 2: S ystem utilities BIOS Setup Utility The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardwa re configuration progra m built in to the notebook’s BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). The notebook was shipped already properly configured and optimized. However, if the user encounters conf iguration problems, you may need to run Setup.
Chapter 2: System utilities 37 ❑ In any menu, you c an load default se ttings by pressing F9 . You can al so press F10 to save any changes made and exit t he BIOS Setup Utility. Note: You can change the value of a parameter if it is enclosed i n square brackets.
38 Chapter 2: S ystem utilities Main screen The Ma in screen allows t he user to set t he system time and date as well as enable an d disable the boot option and recove ry. The table below describes the parameters found on t his screen. Settings in boldface are the default and suggested parameter settings.

This module is keyed so it can only be inserted in one direction. If the module does not fit, make sure that the notch in the module lines up wi th the tab i n the mem ory s lot.

62 Chapter 3: Rep lacing notebook co mponents 2 Loosen the graphics card bay cover screws (these scre ws cannot be removed). 3 Use the thumb notch to lift the graphics card bay cover, then remove it. Be careful not to break off the tabs located on the end of the cov er opposite the thumb notch.
Chapter 3: Replaci ng notebook c omponents 63 5 Pull the card out of the slot. 6 Remove any thermal grease residue from the cooling assembly using a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol. 7 Place new thermal grease on the graphics card. Use only enough to cover the graphics processor die.

72 Chapter 3: Rep lacing notebook co mponents 3 Insert the small flat-blade screwdriver or non-marring tool under the old battery and gently pry it up until it pops out of the socket. 4 Make sure that the positive (+) side of the new battery is facing up, then press the battery into the socket until it snaps int o place.

Chapter 3: Replaci ng notebook c omponents 81 6 Swing the keyboard connector clip upward, then slide the cable out of the clip. Be careful not to touch or damage any other compo nents. 7 Place the ne w keyboard ke ys-do wn on your notebook with the space bar away from you.
