2 Introduction Thank you for purchasing this camera. Every thing you need to take quality digital photos and videos is included with your camera. Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible. Note: Your camera needs an SD Memory card (up to 32GB) for normal use.

4 Initial Camera Set up W hen p owering the camera ON for the first time the camera will take you through the initial camera setup. Powering the Came ra ON 1) Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. 2) Make sure an SD card has been inserted into your camera.
5 Setting the Ca mera Language 1) You will first be prompted to select a language for the camera. The Language selection menu will appear. Select the language of your choice and press the M (MENU)/SET button to confirm the selection. 2) After selecting a language, you will be asked if you would like to continue with the initial camera setup.
6 Main Camera Modes Your camera has different modes for the various camera fu nctions. You can switch modes by pressing the MODE button on your camera a fter the camera has been powered ON. Photo Capture Mode Use this mode to capture pictures with your camera.

9 Using Your D igital Camera Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. If y our camera comes with a rechargeable lithium battery, make sure it is fully charged before the first use. Powering the came ra ON Press the Power button to turn your camera ON.
10 To change the active camera mode, make sure the camera is pow ered ON and press the MODE button on the back of the camera. W hen in Photo Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top -left corne.
11 Photo Cap ture Mode The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with y our digital camera. T aking a Picture 1) W hile in Photo Capture mode, use the LCD display on the back of the camera to direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture.
12 Flash Options There are several Flash options available on y our camera. The options appear on the Photo Capture Mode LCD screen in the se quence. To change the Flash mode, press the Up Quick Function button u ntil you arriv e at your desired settings.
13 Scene Menu The Sc ene Menu allows y ou to choose scene se ttings that allow your camera t o a dapt pro perly to your current environment. 1) Press the M (Menu)/ SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu.
14 Image Resolution M enu The Image Resolution menu allows you to ch oose the desired size of the images taken by y our camera. Keep in mind that images with a hig her resolution will also take up more of your camera‟s memory. 1) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to open the menus for the current mode.
15 Self -Timer Menu The Self-Timer menu allows you to set a dela y between the time that the c amera‟s shutter button is pressed and the actual capture of the picture. This is an optimal feature if you don‟t just want to take the picture but w ould also would like to be in the picture yourself.

Smile Capture M enu The Smile Capture feature when set to „On‟ allow s the camera to automatically take a picture when it detects that a subject in the picture is smiling.
18 Macro Menu The Macro mode allows you to capture images at very close range. When enabled, the Ma cro mode will allow your camera to focus on an object that is very close to the camera. T he flower icon will appea r on the LCD and indicates that the Macro mode is on .
19 White Balance M enu The White Balance feature allows your camera to adjust the coloring o f the captured images depending on the type of light source in the current environment.
20 Multi Snap Shots Menu W hen e nabled, the Multi SnapShots feature allows you to take five rapid snapshots in a ro w with a single click of the shutter button. This feature can be effective w hen trying to capture a particular moment in a sporting event or other scenes with quick movements.

22 1) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options.

Language Menu You can select your camera‟s language setting by selecting the desired language from the Language menu.
24 4) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to select the desired option. 5) A selected option icon now appears to the right of the option name. 6) Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item. 7) Press the MODE button to exit the menu and return to your previous mode.
25 8) Remember that this setting will be saved by your camera until you manually change the setting or restore the camera‟s default factory settings. Auto Power Off M enu You can use the Auto Power Off feature in order to cons erve you camera‟s battery life.

27 Firmware M enu Use this menu to view the Firmware version on your camera or to reset your camera setting s to the factory default settings. 1) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu.
28 Thumbnail View Easily navigate and select the image you wish to view by using the Thumbnail View. The images on your camera will be displayed in a 3 X 3 matrix where you can use the direction buttons to scroll and select images normally from the thumbnails.
29 Delete Menu W hile in the Playback Mode, you can delete pictures from your camera through the delete menu. 1) Use the LEFT or RIGHT buttons to select the image you would like to delete. 2) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to open the menus. 3) Scroll to the Delete Menu.
30 8) Changing the ViviLink destination site will also make the selected site the n ew default ViviLink option. A new default can be selected at any time through t his menu. 9) Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item. 10) Press the MODE button to exit the menu and return to y our previous mode.
31 10) If you selected to sav e, th e cropped picture will now be sa ved as a new picture to your memory card. Protect/Lock M enu Pictures and Videos taken with your camera can be protected or “locked” to prevent any deletion or alteration being made to the files.
32 8) Once connected, follow the instructions on the printer to proceed with the printing process. 9) Select the “Cancel” option to exit the menu an d return to the previous mode . Slide Show Menu You can view a slideshow of all the pictures taken with your camera by pressing the “Up” Quick Function button while in Playback mode.
33 Video Capture Mode The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos w ith your digital camer a . W hen the camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode.

36 Image Qualit y Menu The Image Quality menu allows you to select the desired q uality le vel of the images taken b y your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher image quality level will also take up more memory on your camera. 1) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to open the menus for the current mode.

Macro Menu W ith t he Macro feature, you can capture images at very close range. W hen enabled, the Macro mode will allow your camera to focus on an object that is very close to the camera.

40 ISO Menu The ISO menu allows you to set the level of sensitivity that your camera has to light in the surrounding environment. W hen the ISO level is increased, the image sensor in your camer a will be more sensitive to light and allow you to capture images in lo wer-light situations.

42 Date/Time Menu W hen y ou capture an image with your camera, the image will include a time stamp with the date and time that the image was taken. The Date/Time menu allows you to set your camera‟s date and time as desired. Y ou can also disable the timestamp for future images that will be taken with your camera.
43 Audio Menu The Audio menu allows you to control the camera‟s ability to record audio in the video clips recorded with your camera in addition to the video record. 1) Press the M (MENU)/SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu.
44 Frequenc y Menu The options in the Frequency menu represent the freque ncy of the electrical current in flourescent lighting sources in your locale. If your camera is set to a frequency that does not match your country‟s electric current, you may see f lickering or waves on the images take n by your camera.
45 4) If you would like to proceed with the format, select “Yes” and press the M (MENU)/SET button. 5) You will be asked to confirm your wish to format your memory card. 6) Select “No” to exit without formatting. 7) Select “Yes” and press the M (MENU)/SET button to begin the format.
46 W hen y ou find a video that you would like to p lay, press the Shutter button to start playing the video. Press the Shutter button again to pause the video and continue playing and pausing as needed. W hile t he Video is playing all the icons on the top section of the LCD disappear.
47 Video Playback Mode Menus The following are the men us that appear in your camera‟s Video Playback Mode: Delete Menu W hile in the Playback mode, you can delete videos from your camera through the delete menu. 1) View the image you would like to delete.

49 Installing the Soft ware You must be connected to the internet to install and run the Vivitar Experien ce Image Manager software. 1) Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation screen should automatically open. 2) On PC: The Vivitar Experience Image Manager Installer window appears.

Click the “How to transfer photos and videos from my camera to my com puter” button for instructions. 5) If you have internet access, the “Choose your language” window opens, choose your language and click “Next” to open the next w indow.
51 Getting Photos an d Videos from your Camera to Your C omputer An SD card needs to be inserted. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their w ay to your computer. 1) Select the “Get Images” button from the Main menu.
