3 Introduction Thank you for purchasin g this digital video camera. Everythi ng you need to take qual ity digital videos and photo s is included with your digital video camera. Vivitar makes capturing those special m oments a s easy as po ssible. Please rea d this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital video camera.

5 Initial Setup Inst alling the Batter y Inst alling the Memor y Card To Charge the Ba ttery: Insert the battery (as show n above). Power O ff t he camera. Connect the camera with the USB cable either to the AC adapter or to the compu ter.
6 W hen p owering t he di gital vi deo ca m era ON f or the first time the d igital v ideo camera will take y ou through the initial setup. Powering the Digital V ideo Camera ON 1. Make sure the charged lithium battery have been inserted p roperly into your digital video camera.
7 Setting the Dat e and Time The next step in the initial ca mera setup is to set the date a nd time on th e camera. Set the Date and Time a s Desired and w hen finished press the OK button on the joystick to confi rm the selection and move to the nex t part of the ca mera setup.
8 Main Digit al Video Camera Modes Your digital video camera has different modes for the v arious functions. You can switch modes by pressing the MODE button after the digital video camera has been powered ON. Video Capture Mode Use this mode to captur e videos wi th your digital video camera .
9 Playback Mode (P hotos & Videos) Use this mode to view a nd manage the videos and photo s on your digital video camera . After turning on y our digital video camera, press the MODE button twice to open the Pl ayback mode for video s and photos .

12 Powering ON/OFF Y our Digit al V ideo Camera Make sure the lithium battery has been charged and properly inserted into your digital video camera . Make sure an SD card (up to 32GB) has been inserted prop erly into your digi tal video ca m era.
13 To change the active digital video camera mode, make sure the camera is pow ered ON and p ress the MODE button. W hen in Video Capture M ode, this icon will display on the top-left corne r of the L.
14 Vid eo Capture Mode The Video Ca pture Mode allows you to cap ture vid eos with your digital video ca m era. W hen the digital video camera is first pow ered ON, the camera w ill be in Video Capture Mode.
15 ViviLink Button: The Viv iLink button (located on the insid e wall o f you r digita l video camera) al lows you to ea sily and quickly define wh ich social network you r captured video will b e uploaded to when usin g the software a pplication. 1. W hil e in Video Capture mode, press the ViviLink button.

17 Scene Menu The Scene M enu allows you to choo se scene settings that allow your camera to adapt pro perly to your current envi ronment. 1. Press the MENU bu tton to open the menus for t he current mode. 2. Press the joystick butto n LEFT or RIGHT to scrol l and select the Scene menu.

21 W hen the envi ronment has more light than i s needed, reduce the exposure setting (by using the negative - count) to reduce the amount of light a llowed into the lens by your camera.

24 T o Enable /Disable the T imestamp: 1. Press the MENU bu tton to open the menus for t he current mode. 2. Press the joystick butto n LEFT or RIGHT to scrol l and select the Date/Time menu. 3. Press the joystick butto n UP or DOWN to highlight the de sired menu optio n.

26 Frequency Menu The options in the Frequency menu represe nt the frequency of t he ele ctrical current in fluorescent lighting so urces in y our local e. If your di gital video camera is se t to a frequency that does not match your country ‟ s ele ctric current, you may see flickering or waves on the images taken by y our digital video camera .

28 Firmware Settings (Restore Factory Settin gs) Menu Use this menu to view t he Firmware ve rsion on your digital video camera or to reset your camera settings to the Factory Default Settings. 1. Press the MENU bu tton to open the menus for t he current mode.
29 Vid eo Play back Mode W hen you first turn on t he digital video camera, the camera w ill be in Video Cap ture mode by default. Press the MODE button twice to ope n the Pla y back Mode. The Playback mode will a llow you to revi ew photos and videos that y ou ‟ ve already taken with you cam era .

32 8. Any image that is locked will display a lo ck symbol on the LC D screen when view ing that image in the Playback mode. Videos that are not lo cked will not display the lock symbol.
33 Photo Cap ture Mode The Photo Cap ture mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital video camera . Taking a Picture 1. W hil e in Photo Cap ture mode, use the LCD display to dire ct the digital video camera at the scene you wo uld like to capture.

38 Beeping sound s wi ll i ndicate the cou ntdown until the photo is taken - ac cording to t he time you h ave selected: 2 seco nds, 5 seconds, or 10 seconds. NOTE : The Self-Timer can also be quickly activated by sim ply pressing the joystick bu t ton LEFT .

Smile Capture Menu The Smile Capture feature whe n set to „On‟ allows the camera to automatically take a picture w hen it detects that a sub ject in the pictu re is smiling.
41 White Balance Menu The W hite Balan ce feature allow s your camera to adjust the colo ring of the captured images depending on the type of light source in the current environ m ent.
42 Multi SnapShots Men u W hen enable d, the Multi SnapSh ots feature allows you to take five rapid snapsho ts in a row with a single click of the Photo Shutter button . This feature can b e e ffective when trying to capture a pa rticular moment in a sportin g ev ent or other scenes with qui ck m ove ments.

44 ISO Menu The ISO menu allow s you to set the level of sensitivity that your ca mera has to light in the surrounding e nvironment. W hen the ISO leve l is increa sed, the i mage se nsor in y our camera w ill be more sensitive to light and allow you to capture images in low er -light situations.
45 Spot – Meters the are a within the sp ot point frame at the center o f the LCD to set the ex posure on the subject in the cen ter of the monitor. 1. Press the MENU bu tton to open the menus for the curren t mode. 2. Press the joystick butto n LEFT or RIGHT to scrol l and select the Metering menu.
46 Date/Time Menu W hen you cap ture an image with your camera, the i mage will in clude a tim e sta mp wi th the date and ti m e that the image was take n. The Date/Time m enu al lows you to set yo ur camera‟s date and ti me as desired. You can also disable the ti mestamp for future images that w ill be taken wi th your camera.
47 6. If you woul d like to exit the Date /Time menu witho ut changing the settings, press the MODE button at any time to exit the menu and return to you r previous screen.

49 TV Mode Menu TV Mode allow s you to select the TV option appropria te for you to view your ca ptured images on your televi sion. See “Con necting the Digi tal Vi deo C amera to a TV o r H DTV ” sectio n o f your manual for further information on how to connect your digital video camera to y our television.
50 4. To Format the M emory Card: If you woul d like to proceed with the format, select „Yes‟ and press the OK button on the joystick to confirm . The memory card w ill be completely formatted. A message wil l appear confirming that you r m emory card format has completed.
51 Note : Selecting the system Lang uage is required after resetting to the Factory settings. After yo u have RESET to the Factory De fault Settings , and you imm ediately continue using the digital video came ra , the langu age will be set to the defau lt: English .
52 1. Press the W/Zoom Out button . All the i mages on your camera will appear in the Thumbnail View . 2. Use the UP / DOWN / LEFT / RIGHT buttons on the joystick to scroll an d select the i mage you wish to vi ew. 3. Press the OK button on the joystick to enla rge the selected image full size.
53 Photo Pla yback Mode Menus The following menus appear in your digital video camera ‟ s Photo Play back Mode: Note : The order of the menus options may vary .
54 Changing the ViviLink destination site will also make the selected site th e new default Viv iLink option. A new default can be selected at any time using this menu. Rotate Menu Use this menu to rotate the pictures that you have taken 90 , 18 0 , or 270 .
55 Protect/Lock Menu Pictures and Vi deos taken w ith your ca mera can be protected or “locke d” to prev ent any del etion or alteration being made to the files. 1. Press the MENU bu tton to open the menus for the curren t mode. 2. Press the joystick butto n LEFT or RIGHT to scrol l and select the Protect/Lock menu.
56 5. To delete all the vide os and pho tos you have saved on y our SD Me mory card, select “Delete All Image s?” and press the OK button on the joy stick. If you woul d like to proceed with de leting all the videos and p hotos, select „Yes‟ and press the OK button on the joystick to con firm.
57 Slide Show Menu The Slide Show m enu all ows you to set the inte rval length of time that each picture will display during the slide show. Note : While in Pla yback mode, press the UP Quick Function button to initiate the slide show. Press any button to e xit the slide show and return to the previous m ode.
58 2. Turn On the TV and the digital video camera , and then set the TV to “AV” mode. 3. Set the TV format on the digital video camera to suit the TV for mat of your TV set (NTSC or PAL). In the Video a nd Photo Capture Men us, use the TV Mode M enu to select the appropriate TV format.
59 Installing the Soft ware You must be connecte d to the internet t o install an d run the Vivitar Experie nce Image Manager s oftware. 1. Insert the installa tion CD into your CD-ROM drive . The installation screen sho uld automatically open. 2. On PC: The Viv itar Experience I m age M anager I nstaller w indow appears.

61 Getting Photos and Videos from y our Camera to Your Computer The SD card must be inserted in the digital video ca mera. Do not discon nect the cable during tran sfer. Doing so will can cel the transfer of any files on their way to you r computer. 1.
