What it does Y our S mart Alert remote is the communications hub of your sys tem. It acts as a receiver of signals fr om the detectors, as well as sends signals to y our hearing instruments and activates bed shaker . I t, itself , is an alerting device: LED lights and vibration make you awar e of a detector going of f in the household.
Replacing the battery The battery compartment is located on the back of the remote. 1. Remo ve the remote belt clip. 2. Slide the battery co ver . 3. Gr asp the old battery with your thumb and index finger and remo ve.
Doorbell detector What it is The Smart Alert doorbell detector detects the sound of y our doorbell, and transmits the signal to your remote, which aler ts you through the r emote’ s LED door icon and vibration alerts.
What you need to do: insert batteries, test and install 1. Open the battery cov er (5). Insert supplied 9V battery by connecting the battery contacts and close the battery cov er . 2. P ress the test button (2). LED light on detector (1) will illuminate, as will green doorbell LED icon on remote, wh i c h wi l l al s o v ib r a t e .
Ext. Trigger T elephone detector What it is The Smart Alert telephone detector recogni zes incoming calls and transmits a signal to your remote, which aler ts you through the r emote’ s LED telephone icon and vibration.
What you need to do: insert batter y , connect adaptor , test and install 1. Open the battery cov er (8). Connect the telephone cable to the telephone connector (6) and insert the adapter plug in the telephone socket. Insert 9V supplied battery by connecting the battery contacts and close the battery cover .

What you need to do: insert batter y , test and install 1. Attach mounting bracket (5) then install smoke detector by turning counter -clockwise. Insert 9V battery by connecting the battery contacts. 2. W ait about 10 seconds while the smoke detector carries out a self-test.
Nightst and r emote char ger What it is The nightstand remote char ger is used to rechar ge your remote. Place your r emote in the char ger every night before y ou go to sleep. This combination will ensur e that you continue to receiv e alerts when you remove y our hearing instruments at night.
What you need to do: plug in, activate and connect bed shaker 1. Connect power pl ug into the char ger a nd t h e n p l u g c h a rg e r i n t o a n e le c t r i c a l o u t l e t n e a r y o u r b e d . 2. P ull tab to activate the 4 NiMH rechar geable batteries found in the bottom of the char ger .
Bed shaker What it is The bed shaker is placed between mattress and box spring of your bed. When connected to the nightstand (with remote placed in char ger), it pro vides a motion alert at night if one of your detectors shoul d go off .
Customizing your Smar t Aler t ™ System When you receiv e your S mart Alert System, it is s et to a default “ radio key ” and ready to use with no further set-up r equired. Ho wever , in the event that you have a neighbor with a similar system, y ou may need to change the radio key to avoid interferen ce.
P airing remote with detectors 1. Ensure all of y our detectors are set to the same radio key . Remove the back cover fr om each detector and locate the radio key by referring to the component diagrams in this guide. 2. Choose any combination of up and down for the keys and r epeat it identically for all detectors.
TI P S Y ou can train your doorbell detector to differ entiate between up to 2 doorbells, pro vided that each sounds different. Y our remote will then send you dif ferent signals for each so you ’ll know which door needs answering.

Selecting which hearing instrument to adjust At the top of the remote, ther e is a left- both-right switch. This switch all ows you to select the hearing instruments you want to adjust. Slide the switch to the left position to adjust your left hearing instrument only .
