2 TABLE OF CONTENTS FINDING MODEL NUMBER This Operator’s Ma nual is an important part of your new snow thrower. It will help you assemble, prepare and maintain the unit for best performance.
3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES This symbol points out import ant safety instructions , which if not followed, co uld endanger the personal safety and/or proper ty of yourself and others. Re ad and follow all instructi ons in th is manual before attempting to operate this machine.
4 4. Never operate with a missing or damaged chute assembly. Keep al l safety devices in place and working. 5. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly gas. 6. Do not ope rate machine whil e under the i nfluence of alcohol or drugs.
5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER NOTE: All references to right or left side of the snow thrower are de termined from behind th e unit in the operating posit ion. The “operator ’s position” is defin ed as standing direct ly behind the snow thrower, facing the handle panel.
6 Figure 3 Attaching Chute Assembly (Hardw are Group A) • Place chut e assemb ly over chut e opening, with the opening in the ch ute assembly fac ing the front of the unit. • Place chute fl ange keeper s beneath lip of chu te assembly, with the flat side of chut e flange keeper facing downward.
7 Routing Chute Tilt Cables • If not already ro uted, slip the cables that run from beneath the handle panel to the chute assembly through the cab le guide located on top of the engine housing.
8 Figure 8 Auger Control The auger cont rol is located on the left handle. Squeeze th e auger control to e ngage the augers. Release to stop the snow throwing actio n. The drive control must also be released in order t o stop the auger. IMPORT ANT: Refe r to Auger Control Test on page 10 prior to operating your sn ow thrower.
9 SECTION 4: OPERATING YOUR SNOW THROWER Before Starting WARNING: Read, underst and, and follow all instructions and warnings on the machine and in this manual before operating. Gas And Oil Fill-up Service the engin e with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separ ate engine manual pa cked with your snow thrower.
10 • As engine warms up, rotate choke knob slowly to OFF positio n. If engine falters, return to FULL choke, then slowly m ove to OF F position . T o Stop Engine • Run engine for a few minutes before st opping to help dry off any moisture on the engine.
11 • Repeat Auger Contr ol Test to verify proper adjustment has been achieved . Repeat the previous steps to provide more slack in the cable, if necessary. T o Engage Wheel Drive • With the engine run ning near top speed, move the shift lever into one of the six FORWARD positions or two REVERSE positions.

13 NOTE: If the tire pressure is n ot equal on both sides, the unit may pull to one side or the ot her. WARNING: Under any circumstance do not exceed manufactur er’s recommended psi.
14 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR SNOW THROWER WARNING: Before lubricatin g, repairing, or inspecting, disengag e all controls and stop engine. Wait unt il all moving parts have come to a complete stop. Disconnect the spar k plug wire and ground it against the engine to prevent unint ended starting.
15 Figure 16 IMPORT ANT: Be careful not to allow grea se to get on the drive plate or friction wheel. Drive Control / Auger Control Lock The cams on the ends of the control r ods which interlock the drive and auger controls must be lubricated at least once a season or every 25 hours of operation using a mu lti-purpose automotive grease.
16 Figure 17 • Reassemble the new shave plate, making sure heads of carriage bolts are to the inside of the housing. Tighten securely. Replacing Belts To remove and replace either the auger be lt or the drive belt, follow the step s below and then proceed to the specific steps listed under respective sub-headings.
