B egin the pl unge cut b y applyi ng the lowe r port ion of the g uide bar nose to the tree at an angle. Cut unti l the depth of the kerf is about the same as the wid th of the gu ide bar .

Alternat ive me thod of st arting: • Hold the rea r handle ti ghtly bet ween your le gs, just above the knees - • grip the f ront handle firm ly wi th y our left hand - your thum b should be under.
• Pull the ha nd guard ba ck towa rd the front handle : the chai n brake is now diseng aged - your sa w is ready for opera tion. • Observe sa fety pr ecaution s.
• Pull off th e spark plu g termina l - • Tak e out scr ew and rem ove the shroud - • Unsc rew an d dry off the spar k plug - • Set th e Master C ontrol le ver to G • Crank th e engine sever.
A fact ory new ma chin e should not be run at hi gh revs (full th rottle of f load) for the fi rst three ta nk filli ngs. This av oids unnece ssary high load s durin g the brea k-in perio d.
