25 English Indicators The computer has serveral easy-to-read status indicators. The front panel indicators are visible even when the co mputer cover is closed up. 1. Charging: The light shows amber when the battery is charging. 2. Fully charged: The light sho ws green when in AC mode.
26 English Easy-launch buttons Located beside the keyboard are applicatio n buttons. These buttons are called easy-launch buttons. They are: Empowering Key, WLAN, Internet, email, Bluetooth, TV (optional) an d Acer Arcade. Press to run the Acer Empowering Technology.
27 English Touchpad The built-in seamless touchpad is a pointi ng device tha t senses movement on its surface. This means the cursor responds as you move you r finger across the surface of the touchpad. The central location on the palmrest provides optimum comfort and support.

31 English Hotkeys The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access m ost of the computer's controls like screen brightness and the BIOS utility. To activate hotkeys, press and hold the <Fn> key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combinatio n.

40 English Frequently asked questions The following is a list of possible situations that may arise during the use o f your computer. Easy solutions are provided for each o ne. I turned on the power, but the computer does not start or boot up. Look at the power indicator: • If it is not lit, no power is being supplied to the co mputer.
41 English • If headphones, earphones or externa l speakers are connected to the line- out port on the computer, the internal speakers auto matically turn off. I want to eject the optical drive t ray without turning on the power. There is a mechanical eject hole on the o ptical drive.

Use this conditioning p rocess for all new batteries, or if a battery has n't been used for a long time. If the computer is to be stored for more than two weeks, you are advised to remove the battery pack from the unit.
46 English To remove a battery pack: 1 Slide the battery release latch to release the batter y. 2 Pull the battery from the battery bay. Charging the battery To charge the battery, first make sure that it is correctly installed in the battery bay. Plug the AC adapter in to the computer, and connect to a mains power outlet.

Th is player has the features and controls of a typical DVD player. When you insert a disk into the DV D drive, the movie begins playing automatically.
53 English Album Acer Arcade lets you view digital photos individually or as a slid e show, from any available drive on your computer. Click the Album button on the Arcade Home page to show the Albu m main page. The content area on the right shows both indi vidual pictures and folders.

79 English BIOS utility The BIOS utility is a hardware config uration program built into your computer 's BIOS. Your compu ter is already properly c onfigured and optimized, and you do no t need to run this utility. However, if you encounter configuration problems, you may need to run it.
