Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of the WL -613 Wireless Network Broadband modem/Router . The WL -613 is compliant with 802.11g & 802.11b. The WL -613 is not only a Modem or Wireless Access Point, but also doubles as a 4-po rt full-duplex Switch that connects your wired-Ethernet devices together at.

4 Network + System Requirements T o begin using the WL -613, make sure you meet the following as minimum requirements: • PC/Notebook. • Operating S ystem – Microsoft W indows XP/2000/VIST A • 1 Free Ethernet port. • Wi-Fi card/USB dongle (802.

7 PC Network Adapter setup ( Windows XP ) • Enter [Start Menu] select [Co ntrol panel] select [Network]. • Select [Local Area Connection]) icon=> select [properties].

8 Bringing up the WL-613 Connect the supp lied power-adapter to th e power inlet port and connect it to a wall outlet. The WL - 613 automatica lly enters the self-test phase. Dur ing self-test phase, the Power LED will blink briefly , and the n will be lit continuously to indicate that this pro duct is in normal operation.

LAN settings The LAN tab gives you the o pportunity to change the IP se ttings of the WL - 613. Click <Apply> at the bottom of th is screen to save an y chan ges. IP address 192.168.0.1. It is the router ’ s LAN IP address (Y our LAN clients default gateway IP address).
Lease Time Forever . In t he Lease Time se tting you can specify the time period that the DHCP lends an IP address to your LAN clients. The DHCP will change your LAN client’s IP address when this time threshold period is reached.
Device Status View the B roadband modem/router’ s current configuration settings. Device Status displays the configuration settings you’ve configured in the Wizard / Basic Settings / Wireless Settings se ction.
Internet Status This page d isplays whether the ADSL port is connected to an ADSL service provider . It also displays the router’s WA N IP address , Subnet Mask, and ISP Gateway as well as MAC address, the Primary DNS. Press Renew b utton to renew your WAN IP address.
ADSL Status This page shows the current operation mode, status o f your ADSL connection, the data rate and the quality of your ADSL link. Operation mode allows manual selection of the ADSL mode.
DHCP Client Status DHCP This page shows all DHCP clients (LAN PCs ) currently connected to your network. T he table shows the assigned IP ad dress, MAC address and expir ation time for each DHCP leased client. Use the Refresh button to update the available information.
WL-613 Log View the operation log of the WL-613 . This page sho ws the current system log of the B roadband modem/router . It displays any ev en t occurred after system start up.
10 Configuration Wizard Click Wizard to configure the modem. The Setup wizar d will now be d isplayed; check that the adsl line is connecte d and click Next.
Depending o n the chose n provider , you may need to e nter your user name and password or hostname in the following window . After you have entered the correct information, click Next .
1 1 Wireless Settings Y ou can set parameters that are used for the wireless stations to connect to this router . The parameters include Mode, ES SID, Channel Number and Asso ciated Client. Wireless Function Enable or Disable Wireless func tion here. Click Apply and wait for module to be ready & loaded.
Basic Settings Band Allows you to set the AP fixed at 802.11b or 802 .11g mode. Y ou can also select B+G+N mode to allow 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n clients at the same time. ESSID This is the name of the wireless signal which is broadcasted. All the devices in the same wireless L AN should hav e the same ESSID .
Advanced Settings This tab allows you to set the adv anced wireless options. The options included are Authentication T ype, Fragment Threshold, R TS Threshold, B eacon Interval, and Preamble T ype. Y ou sho uld not change these par ameters unless you know what effect the changes will have on the router .
Preamble Type The “Long Preamble” can provide better wirele ss LAN compatibility while the “Short Preamble” can provide better wi reless LAN performance. Broadcast ESSID If you e nabled “Broadcast ESSID” , e very wireless station located within the coverage of this access point can discover this access point easily .
Security This Access Point provides complete wire less LAN se curity functions, included are WEP , IEEE 802.11x, IEEE 802.11 x with WEP , WPA with pre-shared key and WP A with RADIUS. With these se curity functions, y ou can prevent your wireless LAN fr om illegal access.
WEP When y ou select 64-bit or 1 28-bit WEP key , you hav e to en ter WEP keys to encrypt data. Y ou can generate the key by yourself an d enter it. Y ou can enter four W EP keys and select o ne of them as a default key . T hen the router can receive any packets encrypted by one of the four keys.
Click <Apply> at the bottom of the screen to save the above configurations. Y ou can now configure other sections by choosing C ontinue, or choose Apply to apply the settings and re boot the device. WPA Pre-shared Key Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is an advanced security standard.
WPA-Radius Wi-Fi Protected Access ( WPA ) is an advanced security standard. Y ou can use an external RADIUS server to authenticate wireless stations and provide the session key to encrypt data during communication. It uses TKIP or CCMP ( AES ) to change the e ncryption key frequen tly .
ACL This w ireless router supports MAC Address Contro l, which prevents unauthorized clients from accessing your wireless network. Enable wireless access control Enables the wireless access control function Adding an address into the list Enter the " MAC Address” of the wireless station to be added and then click "Apply".
WPS Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is the simplest way to establish a co nnection between the wire less clients and the w ireless router . Y ou don’ t have to select the encryption mode and fill in a long e ncryption passphrase every time when you try to setup a wireless connection .
WPS Curr ent Status If the wireless security (encryp tion) function of this wireless router is properly set, you’ll see a ‘Configured’ message here. Otherwise, you’ll see ‘UnConfigured’ . Self Pin Code This is the WPS PIN code of the wireless router .
12 Firewall Settings The Broadband router provides extensi ve firewall protection by restricting connection parameters, thus limiting the risk of hacker attacks, and defending against a wide arr ay of common Internet attacks.
DMZ If you ha ve a client PC that can not run an Intern et application (e.g. Games) properly from behind the N A T firewall, then you can open up the firewall restrictions to unrestricted two- way Internet access by defining a DMZ Host.
The Broadband router's firewall can block common hack er attacks, including Denial of Service, Ping of Death, P ort Scan and Sync Floo d. If Interne t attacks occur the router can log the events.
Access Y ou can restrict users from accessing certain Internet applications/services (e.g. Internet we bsites, email, FT P etc.). Access Control allows users to define the traffic type pe rmitted i n your LAN. Y ou can control which PC cl ient can have access to these services.
Filter client PC by MAC Check “Enable MAC F iltering” to enable MAC Filtering. Add PC Fill in “Client PC MAC Address” and “Comment” of the PC tha t is allowed to access the Internet, an d then click “ Add” .
URL block Y ou can block access to so me W eb sites from particular PCs by entering a full URL address or just keywords of the W eb site. Enable URL Blocking Enable/disable URL Blocking Add URL Keyword Fill in “URL/Keyword” and then click “ Add” .
13 Advanced Settings Network Address T ranslation (N A T) allows multiple users at y our local site to access the Internet throug h a single Public IP Address or multiple Public IP Addresses.
Virtual server Use the Virtual Server function when you want different servers/clients in your LAN to handle different service/Internet application type (e.g. Email, FTP , W eb ser ver etc.) from the Internet. Computers use numbers called port numbers to recognize a particular service/Internet application type.

Special application Some applications require multiple connections, such as Inter net games, video Conferencing, Internet telephony and other s. In this section you can configure the router to support multiple connections for these types o f applications.
Popular applications This section lists the more popular ap plications that require m ultiple connections. S elect an app lication from the Popular Applications selection. Once you have selected an application, select a location (1-10) in the Copy to selection box and then click the Copy to button .
UPNP With UPnP , all PCs in y ou Intranet will discov er this router automatically . So, you don’ t have to configure your PC and it can easily access the Interne t through this router . UPnP Feature Y ou can enable or Disable the UPnP feature here.
QoS QoS can let you classify Internet ap plication traffic by source/destination IP address and por t number . Y ou can assign priority for each type of applica tion and reserve bandwidth for it. The packets of applications with higher priority will always go first.
Edit a QoS rule Select the rule y ou want to edit and click “Edit” , then enter the detail form of the QoS rule. Click “ Apply ” after editing the form and the rule will be saved. Adjust QoS rule priority Y ou can select the rule and click “Move Up” to make its priority higher .
Routing These screens define routing related parameters, including static routes and RIP (Routing Information Protocol) parameters. Routing Table Flags Indicates the route status: C = Direct connection on the same sub net. S = Static route. R = RIP (Routing Information Protocol) assigned route.
Enable: RIP enabled on this interface. Silent: Listens for route broadcas ts and updates its route table. It does not participate in sending route broadcas ts.
SNMP Use the SNMP configuration screen to display and modify parameters for the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP ). SNMP operation mode T o select the SNMP modes for this device. Community A computer attached to the networ k, called a Network Management Station (NMS), can be used to access t his information.

Time Zone The Time Z one allows y our router to base its tim e o n the sett ings configured here, which will affect functions such as Log entries and Firewall settings. Set Time Zone Select the time zone of the co untry you are currently in. The router will set its time based o n your selection.
Remote Management The remote management fu nction allows you to designate a host in the Internet the ability to configure t he Broadb and ro uter from a remote si te.
Firmware Upgrade This page allows you to upgrade the router’s fi rmware. Firmware Upgrade This tool allows you to upgrade the Broadband router’s system firmware.
Backup Settings The B ackup scree n allows you to save (Backup) the router’s current configuration settings. Wh en you save the configuration setting (Backup) y ou can re-load the saved configuration into the ro uter through the R estore selection.
Reset Y ou can reset the router’s system shoul d an y problem exist. T he rese t function essentially re-boots your router ’ s system..
DDNS DDNS allows you to map the static domain name to a dynamic IP address. Y ou mus t get an acco unt, password and your static domain name from the DDNS service providers.
