LOADING PAPER 2-3 2 3 Gently push tray 1-tra y 2 into the machine. Push the tray firmly all the wa y into the machine . 4 Set the paper type. If the paper size w as changed from an AB size to an inch .
LO ADING P APER 2-4 3 Push in the paper guide so that it loc ks into place . Push the paper siz e guide in until the hook at the bottom locks into place. (Y ou will hear a "click" when the ho ok loc ks.) Mo ve the paper size guide slightly to verify that it has lock ed into place.

3-14 INSER TER The inser ter enab les blank sheets or printed sheets to be added to cop y and print output as cov ers or inser ts without printing. The inserter also allows f eeding of heavy paper that cannot be f ed from the other tra ys.
INSERTER 3-15 3 Loading paper When loading paper i n th e inser ter , load the paper f ace up . If the paper has a top edge and bottom edge , load in the same top-botto m orientation as the original. Adjust the paper guide on the pap er tra y to the width of the paper .

In addition, both sides of tw o-sided sheet orig inals can be sim ultaneously scanned. This function is conv en ient when you ha ve a large number of or iginal pages to scan.
4-3 4 PLA CING ORIGINALS ■ Using the automatic document fee der 1 Open the document co ver , make sure that an original has not be en left on the document glass, and then gently c lose the document cov er . 2 Adjust the original guides to the size of the originals.
PLA C ING ORIGINALS 4-4 ■ Standar d original placement orientations Place originals in the document f eeder tr a y or on the document glass so th at the top and bott om of the original is positioned as shown in the illustration. If not, staples will be incorrectly positioned and some spe cial f eatures may no t giv e the e xpected res ult.
4-5 4 CHECKING THE SIZE OF A PLA CED ORIGINAL If the placed original is a standard siz e, the size wil l be automatically detected (autom atic or iginal de tection function) and displa yed in th e touch panel. Mak e sure that the correct siz e has been detected.
4-6 ST ORING, DELETING, AND USING ORIGINAL SIZES Up to 9 special original siz es can be stored . Stored siz es can be easily called up and ar e not eras ed if the po wer is turned off. Sto r ing a frequent ly used original size sa ves y ou the trouble of manually set ting the siz e each time you copy that size of document.
4-7 4 NORMAL COPYING This section describes the normal copyin g procedure. Making copies with the automatic document feeding function ■ 1-sided copies of 1-sided originals 1 Place the originals in the document feeder tray . (pages 4-3 to 4-6) 2 Ensure that the 1-sided to 1-sid e d cop y mode is selected.
NORMAL C OPYING 4-8 7 Select the desired output mode (p age 4-9). The sor t mode is the default mode. T o select the group mode, touch the [OUTPUT] ke y , then touch the [GROUP] key on the output setting screen, and the n touch the [OK] k ey on the setting screen.
