8 . Display This displays messages and prompts to h elp you operate the machine. The backlight turns o n whenev er a ke y is t ouched, and th en automatically tur ns off after a preset time if no fur ther ope rations are perf or med. The display can be tilted to the desired angle for easy viewing.
9 ON LINE light (p rinter option only) When this light is on, the machine can receive data (print jobs) ov er the network. The light is tur ned on or off with the ON LINE ke y .
10 Rapid Dial Ke ys Press one of these ke ys to dial a fax number automatically , or specify an e- mail recipient if the network scanner option i s installed.

Connections 15 1. Installation Connections Connecting the power cor d Connect the female end of the po wer cord to the machine as shown. Inser t the male end into a 120 V , 60 Hz, grounded (3-prong) AC outlet. Important! The machine requires its own dedicated pow er outlet.

Installing the Print Cartridges 18 Installing the Print Car tridges F ollow the steps below to install or replace the toner and dr um car tr idges. ♦ The initial star ter toner car t ridge in clu ded with the machine can pri nt approximately 3000 letter-size pages (4% co verage of each page; continuous printing).

Push the guide down into the holes. 4 Place a stack of paper in the cassette, print side up. • Make sure the stack of paper is not higher than the two tabs on th e paper guide and the two metal tabs.

Loading the Doc ument 34 Loading the Document Up to 50 letter-sized pages (20 legal-sized pages) can be placed in the f eeder at one time. The pages will automatically feed into the machine star ting from the bottom page.

Send/Receiv e Documents Memory Retransmission If a line error occurs during any type of memor y transmission, your f ax will automatically redial the number an d atte mpt to complete th e transmission. Retransmission will begin from the page which was being transmitted when the error occurred.

74 3. Netw ork Scanner Option Intr oduction The FO-NS2 Network Scanner Expansion Kit allows you to scan a document and directly transmit the image to an e-mail address (Scan to E-mail), FTP ser ver (Scan to FTP), or computer desktop on y our netw ork (Scan to Desktop).

Y our deale r must install the FO-LN1 network interface kit and the FO-NS2 network scanner kit, and enter the networ k scanner product ke y .
Setting the IP Add ress 76 Setting the IP Address Once your dealer has instal led the net work scanner option and th e machine is connected to the network, the networ k administrator or adm inistrator of the machine should use the follo wing proce dure to set the IP address of the machine.

T o configure the settings, access the machine's Web page from a computer that is connected to the same network as the machine.

An administrator passw ord and a user pass word can be set. When the Web page is accessed with the administrator passw ord, all settings can be configured.
