8 Using the T ouch Panel Display Selecting Funct ions On the touch pa nel display, you can fi nd keys, instructions and messages. By pressing keys on the display, you can select or deselect functions, and enter data for the selec ted modes. If you make a mistake and wish to cl ear the current set- tin gs, pr ess the { Clear Modes } key.
9 Ent erin g Numb ers When th e display promp ts you to enter a number, type in the nu mber with th e number keys and press the [ # ] key on the display to accep t it. Should you m ake a mistake: • If you have not pressed the [ # ] key yet, press the [ Clea r ] key and then re-e nter it.

Note ❒ If the power is not turned on when the op eration switch is pressed, check if the main p ower switch is on. If off, t urn it on. ❒ During the warm-up peri od (Less than 270 seconds), you can use the Auto Start fun ction .

Basics 20 1 F While the Auto Feed indicator is lit after an original is fed, set the next orig- inal. The original is automatic ally fed and copied. Note ❒ You can adjust th e time the machine waits befor e being ready for the next orig inal w ith the user to ols.

Basic P rocedure 27 2 Manual image densi ty If you requir e darker or lighter copies, adjust the image density yourself. A If [ Auto Image Density ] key is selected , press it to cancel it. B Press the desired color density level. Comb ined auto and manual im age density Use when copying originals with a dirty background (such as newspapers).
Copying 28 2 Selecting a Co lor Mode Select a co lor mode that best suits your or iginal s and copyi ng require ments. Auto color select mode The machine automat ically detects whether the original has color parts or not. Ori ginal s wit h only b lack imag es wil l be copied in Bl ack & Whit e mode.

Sele cting the Original Im age Type To optimize the likeness between copies and originals, sele ct an image type that matches your or igina ls.

Text mode This modes is suitable for copying originals con sisting of characters, line d ia- grams, and letter, but not photographic images.

Copying 36 2 Selecting the Copy Pape r Size Select a suitable size of copy paper based on the original size and the reproduc- tion ra tio. Auto paper select The machin e automatically sele cts a suitable size of copy pa per based on the original size and the reproduction ratio.
