English vi Copy data fr om y our camera to the computer Connect you r camera to a computer , and copy the de sired data to the computer . 1 Turn on the computer, and use the supplied dedicated USB interface cable to connect your camera to the computer.

23 English Charging the bat tery pack Be sure to fully charge the supplied or separately sold battery pack bef ore using it in your camer a. Fo r charging the battery pack, use the supplied charger . Charge the bat tery pack if it is being used f or th e first time , and recharge it whenev er the remaining charge is low .

English 28 SETUP CA UTION Does the battery pac k appear sw ollen? i The lithium-ion b attery used in this camera ma y expand sli ghtly when stored in a hot en vironment or re peatedly used, but this is not a safe ty hazard.
29 English About the temper ature alert icon During camera use, if the temp erature of the bat tery or inside the camera (excl uding the battery) rises, a temper ature alert icon will appear as described below .
English 30 SETUP TURNING THE CAMERA ON AND OFF T urning on the camera 1 Ope n the monitor unit, and press the ON/OFF button for at least 1 second. h If you briefly press the ON/O FF button, once , the camera will s witch to the po wer sa ve mode. h If you press the RE C/PLA Y button fo r at least 1 second, the camera turns on in the playbac k mode.
31 English T urning on the camera w hen the power save (sleep) mode is ac tive In order to preserve battery pack power , the power sav e (sleep) function will automatically turn off the camera after about 1 minute of no use during shooting, or about 5 min utes of no use during play back (f actory-preset setting).
English 32 SETUP HINT T o immediately act ivate the po wer save mode i Press the ON/OFF button briefly to activate the power save function. About the standby mode i T o turn off the camera only briefly , you can close the monito r unit to put the camera in the stan dby mode.
33 English D A TE AND TIME SETTING The camera will record the date and ti me an image or audio recording is taken so that y ou can displa y them during pla yback . Theref ore, bef ore capturing images, mak e sure the correct date and time are set. h T o correct the date and time setti ng, please see under HINT on page 35.

English 66 SIMPLE/SHOO TING Using the flash The flash is not only used f or photograp hing under dark conditions, b ut is also conv enient f or e xample when the subject is in shad ow or lit from behind. The flash is av ailab le only when shooting sin gle-shot still images .
67 English CA UTION Do not touch the flash unit when shooting i The flash unit becomes very hot and ma y cause a burn. A vo id touching the flash unit when shooting. HINT i The flash cannot be used during video clip recording. i If the photo stabiliz er (page 91) is set to ON , the flash operation setting will change to “no flash” ; .

69 English HINT i When shooting a still image while record ing a video clip , the flash doe s not operate . i The photo stabil izer (pages 50 and 91) is inoperati ve . i When the remaining vi deo recording time becomes appro ximately 50 seconds, it will no longer be po ssible to captur e a still image while recording a video clip .
English 70 SIMPLE/SHOO TING MA CRO-PHO T OGRAPHY (ZOOM) Y our camera has two zoom function s: optical zoo m and digital zoom. 1 Point the camera le ns at the subject. 2 Push the zoom switch toward [T/ ] ] or [W/ P ] to compose the desired image. [T/ ] ]: Zoom in on the subject.

How ev er, the file size will also be proportionately larger , requiring longer times to edit and store .

English 90 NORMAL/SHOO TING Self-timer set ting By assigning an oper ation shortcut to an arrow k ey (pa ges 125 and 128), y ou can set the self-timer from the Recording Scre en.
