5 INST ALLI NG THE CARD 1 Open the car d slot cover, and insert the card in the card slot. 2 Inse rt the card all the way in. h Firmly inser t the c ard until it clicks into pl ace. 3 Close the card slo t cover. <T o remove the car d...> h T o remove th e card, press it in, and then release .
6 English CHARGING THE B A TTER Y P A CK 1 Whi le pressing the battery cover lo ck, slid e it ( 1 ), and pull out the battery cover toward the bottom of the camera ( 2 ). h The battery cover comes off . 2 I nsert the battery pack. h T ake care that it is positioned correctly .
7 CHARGING THE BA TTER Y P A CK 3 Repla ce the battery cover. <T o remove the battery pack...> h Raise the edge of the battery pack to remove it.
8 English TURNING THE CAMERA ON AND OFF T urning on the camera 1 Se t the REC/PLAY switc h. T o shoo t pictures: Set to REC. T o play back image s: Set to PL A Y . 2 Open the monitor unit. 3 Pres s the ON/OFF button for at least 1 se cond. h The camera turns on.
9 D A TE AND TIME SETTING The camera will record the date and ti me an image or audio recording is taken so that y ou can displa y them during pla yback. Theref ore , befor e capturing images, mak e sure the correct date and time are set. Example: T o set the clock to 7:30 p .
10 English 3 Set the clock. 1 Select “TIME”. 2 Press the SET bu tton. h The Set Time Screen appears. 3 Set the time to “19:30” . h The time is set in the f ollowing order: Set the hour → Set the minute. h A 24-hour cloc k is used for t he time displa y .
11 SWITCHING BETWEEN THE RECORDING MODE AND PLA YB A CK MODE Switch between the recording mode (for record ing) and the play back mode (fo r viewing y our recorded i mages). 1 Turn on the camer a (page 8). 2 Set the REC/PLAY s witch to the desired mode.
12 English SIMPLE MODE/NORMAL MODE Switching between th e SIMPLE and NORMAL modes Use the SIMPLE/ NORMAL s witch, located n ext to the monitor , t o s witch between th e SIMPLE and NORMAL modes. 1 Se t the SIMPLE/NORMAL switch to the desired mode. SIMPLE mode: Set it to SIMPLE.

14 English 3 Pres s the MENU button. h The Menu Screen for the mode y ou selected in ste ps 1 and 2 appears on the moni tor. Displa y the SIMPLE Mode Setting Men u → go to page 1 5, step 4 . Display the NORMAL Mode Setting Menu → go to page 16 , step 4 .
15 SIMPLE MODE/NORMAL MODE T o access the SIMPLE Mode Setting Men u Screen 4 Toggle the SET button up or down to select the item you wish to change, and press the SET button.

18 English HINT About the applicable mode indicator i This indicator sho ws the shooting mode(s) for which the selected setti ng is eff ective . : This setting is eff ectiv e during still image shooting. : This setting is eff ective during video clip recording.
19 VIDEO CLIP RECORDING 1 Turn on the camer a (page 8), and set it to the recording mode (page 11). 2 Pr ess the [ ] button. h Recording begins. h It is not necessar y to keep the [ ] button pressed while record ing. h If you pr ess the [ ] button while recording, you can capt ure a still image.
20 English SHOO TING SINGLE SHO TS Capture a still image (single-shot). 1 Turn on the camera (page 8), and set it to the recording mode (page 11). 2 Pres s the [ ] button. 1 Press the [ ] button halfway . h The autofocus operat es, and the image is f ocused (f ocus lock).
21 SHOO TING SINGLE SHO TS Using the flash 1 Pr ess the m button to open the flash unit. h The flash unit opens. 2 Dis play the SIMPLE Mode Recording Menu (page 13), select the flash setting, and press the SET button. h The screen to select the flash oper ation appears.

24 English HINT If the a appears on the pla yback Sc reen... i The a i con appears when pl aying back a file that was sav ed in segments. Alt hough pla yback of these m ultiple files is continuous , there is a slight pause at t he point where the files are joined.
25 USING THE Xacti Library Copy files 1 Turn on the power to the devices in the following order: camera → hard disk → TV. h If your hard disk is one that can turn ON/OFF automatically , it will do so when the camera is turned ON/OFF . h The Play back Screen f or the last roll that w as copied appears .
26 English 4 Se lect “BEGIN TRANSFER” and press the SET button. h File cop ying begins . h When cop ying is completed, the T ransf er Complete Confirmation Screen appears . 5 Pres s the SET button. h When cop ying is completed, y ou are returned to the Xacti Library Menu.
27 USING THE Xacti Library Play bac k files 1 Select “SELECT PLAY FILE”, and press the SET button. h The screen to select the play back fi les appears. Library ROLL: Specify a roll from the list of rolls. Library CALEND AR: Specify a ca pture date from the calendar .
