Ke y Feat ur es 1. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automated pr ompts. 2. Main Screen (display) displays all the inf ormation needed to operate y our phone, such as the call status, the Contacts list, the date and time, and the signal and batter y strength.
14. END/POWER Key lets you turn the phone on or off, end a call, or return to standby mode. While in the main menu, it returns the phone to standby mode and cancels your input. When y ou receiv e an incoming call, press to enter silent mode and mute the ringer .
V iewing the Displa y Scr een This list identifies the symbols y ou will see on your display screen. indicates your current signal str ength. The more lines you ha ve, the strong er your signal. indicates your phone cannot f ind a signal. indicates the call is on hold.

T ur ning Y our Phone ON and OFF T ur ning Y our Phone On Press . Once your phone is on, it displa ys “Looking for service... ” which indicates that your phone is sear ching f or a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automaticall y enter s standb y mode.
Using the Bat t ery Installing the Bat tery T o install, insert the batter y into the opening on the back of the phone and g ently press down until the latc h snaps into place . Remo ving the Batt ery Warning! Do not handle a damaged or leaking Li-Ion battery as you can be burned.

Na vigating Thr ough Phone Menus The navigation key on your phone allows y ou to scroll through menus quickl y and easily . The scroll bar at the r ight of the menu keeps trac k of your position in the menu at all times. T o navigate through a menu, simpl y press the navigation key up or down.
Making and Answ er ing Calls Holding Y our Phone T o maximise perf or mance, do not obstr uct the bottom portion of your phone wher e the inter nal antenna is located while using the phone. Making Calls T o place a call with the phone open: 1. Make sure y our phone is on.
T o place a call with the phone closed: 1. Make sure y our phone is on and the Side K e y Guard f eature is disabled. (See “ Setting the Side K e y Guard ” on page 48.) 2. Press and hold the Side V olume ke y on the left side of the phone. 3. Follo w the system prompts and say the name of y our registered v oice dial tag (see the note below).

Screen Call to ans wer the call by using pre-recor ded announcement. (See “ Setting Up Screen Call ” on page 87.) Quiet Ringer to mute the ringer . (This featur e appear s when the ringer is set.) T ip: Y our phone offers additional ways to answer calls.
Calling Emer gency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 111 (dial and press ), even if y our phone is locked or your account is r estr icted. Once an emergency call is made, y our phone will automatically enter emergency mode. Press Options (right softke y) to display y our options: Speaker On to activate speakerphone mode.
In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays men u options b y pressing Options (right softke y): Flash to ans wer an incoming call while putting the current call in Call W aiting. Mute or Unmute to mute or r eactivate your phone ’ s microp hone.
End-of-Call Options T o display the f ollowing options, press Options (right softkey) within ten seconds after disconnecting a call: Call Again to dial the phone number . Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode. Send Message to send a te xt message or a picture messag e.
Finding a Phone Number Y ou can searc h Contacts entr ies f or phone number s that contain a specific string of number s. 1. Enter the last f our or more digits of the number in standby mode. (The more numbers you enter , the more specific the searc h becomes.
Dialling F rom the Contacts List 1. From standby mode, press Contacts (right softke y). 2. Select the entr y you want to call and pr ess . 3. Highlight the number y ou wish to call and press or . Note: The icon next to each entry represents the labels (for example, Mobile, Home, W ork, etc.
Making Int er national Calls With Plus Code Dialling Y our phone ’ s plus code dialling featur e can automatically dial the international access code when you are tr avelling outside of New Zealand. (Not available in some areas.) 1. From standby mode, press and hold until a “ + ” sign appear s on the phone displa y .
Recent Messages to enter messages used r ecently . Paste List to paste copied or cut te xt. Fr . Schedule List to use words y ou added in your calendar as Schedule (see pag e 66). From T o Do List to use wor ds you added in your calendar as T o Do (see page 68).

A djusting the Phone ’ s V olume Set tings A djusting the Ringer V olume 1. Select > Settings > Sounds > V olume > Ringer . 2. Select a volume lev el, 1 Beep , Ringer Off , Vibrate All , or Silence All and press Done (left softkey). T ip: Y ou can make the phone vibrate at any volume level by checking the box next to Always Vibrate .
Selecting V ibrat e T ypes W ith this featur e, you can select vibrate types f or incoming calls, messages, alarms, and scheduled ev ents. 1. Select > Settings > Sounds > Vibrate T ype . 2. Select Incoming Calls , Messaging , Alarm , or Schedule .
Aler t Notification Y our phone can alert you with an audible tone when y ou chang e ser vice areas, when ther e are incoming calls or messages, or when your netw ork signal is f ading. Y our phone can also aler t you once a min ute dur ing a call, or when a call has been connected.
Displa y Set tings Changing the Phone ’ s Menu Style Y our phone allows y ou to choose how the main menu appears on your displa y screen. 1. Select > Options (r ight softkey) > Change View . 2. Select Grid View or List View : Grid View to view eac h main menu item as an animated single-screen icon.
P ow er Sav e Mode This f eature helps conser ve y our batter y power by setting the Main Screen and Outer Scr een backlights to Dim Only , the Main Screen sleep mode to after 30sec. , and the Outer Scr een sleep mode to after 5sec. 1. Select > Settings > Display > Power Save Mode .
Changing the Displa y for Incoming Calls 1. Select > Settings > Display > Main Screen > Incoming Calls . 2. Select an option ( Preset , My Content , -Get New , My Albums , Assigned Media , or Off ) and press . 3. Select a colour or an image and pr ess twice.
Cust omising the User Interf ace Y our phone lets you customise the user interf ace (UI) of the standby screen, Main menu and My F avourites settings with your choice of do wnloaded themes to ref lect your personality . Y ou can download the latest themes directl y into your phone from the corresponding URL.
Changing the Input F ont Size 1. Select > Settings > Display > Main Screen > Input Font . – or – Select > Settings > More... > Accessibility > Input Font . 2. Select Phone#s , Messaging , or Others . 3. Select an input f ont size and press .
Location Set tings Y our phone is equipped with a Location f eature for use in connection with location-based ser vices that may be a vailable in the future. Note: The Location feature is currently not available. The Location f eature allows the networ k to detect your position.
Messaging Set tings Set ting Message Notification Displa y Y ou can set your phone to displa y an icon and message notification or just displa y an icon notification when you receiv e a te xt message, picture messag e or voicemail. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Notification .
Set ting Y our Callback Number W ith this featur e, you can send a callback number with y our te xt message. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Callback Number . 2. Press , and then select an option and press : None to send no callback number .
Air plane Mode When your phone is in Airplane mode, it cannot send or r eceive any calls (e xcept for 111 dialling, when within the home networ k) or access online information. Y o u ma y still use the phone ’ s other featur es, such as voice memo, calculator , calendar , etc.
Phone Set up Options My F av our ites Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a shortcut to a fa vourite or often-used function. Pressing Favourites (left softkey) will launch your user-def ined shor tcut. T o assign a shortcut: 1. Press Favourites (left softkey).
Set ting T ext Entry Options 1. Select > Settings > T ext Entry . 2. Select an option and press : Auto-Capital to set the auto-capitalisation to On or Off . Auto-Space to set the auto-spacing to On or Off after T9 wor ds you enter . My W ords to add a word to or edit a w ord in the T9 database (see page 27).
Set ting Contacts Match T o activ ate the Contacts Matc h f eatur e: 1. Select > Settings > More... > Call Setup . 2. Select Contacts Match > On . T o deactivate this f eature, select Off . T ip: T o place a call using the Contacts Match feature, see “Using Contacts Match” on page 24.
Set ting P ow er On to Alert P ower On to Alert helps prevent unintentional or accidental pow er-on of your phone ’ s alar m settings while y our phone is turned of f. This featur e applies only to Event Alerts, Call Alarm, and Alarm Clock. (The default setting is Off .
5. Secur ity A ccessing the Secur ity Menu All of your phone ’ s secur ity settings are av aila b le through the Security menu. Y ou must enter your loc k code to view the Security menu. 1. Select > Settings > More... > Security . 2. Enter your loc k code.
Calling in Loc k Mode Y ou can place calls to 111, Customer Ser vice, and to y our special numbers e v en if your phone is locked. (See “ Locking Y our Phone ” on page 49.) Note: Y ou can call only an emergency number while V oice is set to Locked in Restrict and Lock .
Restr icting Calls Y ou can restrict phone number s y our phone dials or receives. (This setting does not apply to 111 or Customer Service.) 1. Select > Settings > More... > Restrict and Lock . 2. Select V oice , and then enter your lock code.
Er asing the Phone Cont ent 1. From the Security menu displa y , select Erase/Reset . 2. Select an option and press : Erase W eb Cookies to erase all web cookies sa ved in the phone. Erase W eb History to erase all web histories sav ed in the phone.
Reset ting My F a vour it es 1. From the Security menu displa y , select Erase/Reset > Reset Favourites . 2. If you ar e cer tain you w ould like to reset, press OK (left softkey) >Y e s . Reset ting Y our Pict ur e Message A ccount This option resets y our authentication ID for y our Picture Message account.
Lost or St olen Phones T o report your phone missing, call T elecom Customer Ser vices at 0800 800 163. They will be able to put a bar on your phone to disable it from being used. Y ou will be asked to load a passw ord that will need to be repeated if y ou find or recov er your phone.
6. Call Hist ory V iewing Hist ory Y ou will find the Call Histor y f eature ver y helpful. It is a list of the phone numbers (or Contacts entr ies) for calls y ou placed, accepted, or missed.
Prepend to add numbers to the beg inning of the phone number . (See “ Prepending a Phone Number Fr om Call Histor y ” on pa g e 57.) Erase to erase the entr y . Making a Call F r om Call History 1. Select > Call History . 2. Select Missed Calls , Incoming Calls , Outgoing Calls , or Recent Calls .
Pr epending a Phone Number Fr om Call Hist ory If you need to make a call fr om Call Histor y and y ou happen to be outside your local ar ea code, you can add the appropriate prefix by prepending the n umber . 1. Highlight a Call Histor y entr y and press Options (r ight softkey).
7 . Contacts Displa ying the Contacts List From standby mode, press Contacts (right softkey). A dding a New Contacts Entry Y our phone can store up to 500 Contacts entries. Contacts can store up to a total of 700 phone numbers and each entr y ’ s name can contain 32 char acter s.
T o erase a gr oup member: 1. Select > Contacts > Groups . 2. Select the group entr y y ou want to erase member s from and press . 3. Select the member you w ant to erase and press Options (r ight softkey) > Erase > This or All . 4. Select Ye s .
Note: Y our phone will automatically place a call if the voice dial tag is completely recognised. 3. Say “ Ye s ” to confirm the name, or “ No ” to chang e the selection. Finding Speed Dial Numbers Select > Contacts > Speed Dial # ’ s .
Prepend to alter a phone number by adding number s to the beginning of the entr y . (See “ Prepending a Phone Number From Call Histor y ” on page 57.) Send Contact to send the Contacts entr y via Bluetooth (see page 136). Print to pr int the Contacts entr y ’ s data b y using Bluetooth.
Er asing a Contacts Entry F rom the List 1. From the Contacts list displa y , highlight the entr y you wish to delete and press Options (r ight softkey). 2. Select Erase Contact > Y es . Assigning Speed Dial Numbers W ith this featur e, you can dial Contacts director y entries with one key press for locations 2-9.
Assigning an Imag e t o a Contacts Entry Y ou can assign an image to a Contacts entr y . The ima g e is display ed when the entr y calls you. 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select the entr y for whic h you want to assign the image and pr ess . 2.
Secr et Contacts Entr ies Y ou can hide an entr y ’ s phone number(s) and require y our lock code to edit the entr y by making it secret. The entr y name is still display ed, but the entr y ’ s information is replaced with <Secret> .
8. P ersonal Or g aniser Using Y our Phone ’ s Calendar Use the Calendar to remind y ou of events or important calls you need to make. Y ou can schedule up to 100 schedules, 15 call alarms and 40 T o Do items. Displa ying Y our Calendar Select > T ools > Calendar .
A dding an Event t o the Calendar 1. From the Calendar displa y , highlight the day to whic h you want to add an event. 2. Press Options (right softke y) > Add Schedule . 3. A dding a Call Alar m t o the Calendar T o add a call alar m to the calendar: 1. From the Calendar displa y , highlight the day to whic h you want to add a call alarm and press Options (right softke y). 2. Press the navigation key left or right to select Add Call Alarm .
A dding T o Do Items Y our phone can store and manag e up to 40 T o Do items. 1. From the Calendar displa y , press Options (right softke y). 2. Press the navigation key left or right to select Add T o Do .

Editing an Ev ent on the Calendar T o edit a scheduled ev ent on the calendar , select the W eekly vie w . T o mov e an event: 1. Highlight the event y ou would like to mov e and press Options (right softke y) > Move . 2. Use the navigation key to move the ev ent to the date and time you w ould like to and press .
Ev ent List Options While you ar e displaying the da y ’ s events list, press Options (right softkey) to access the following options: Add Schedule to add an event to the calendar . Add Call Alarm to add a call alar m to the calendar . Add T o Do to add a T o Do item to the T o Do List.
T o erase old sc heduled events: From the Calendar displa y , press Options (right softke y) > Erase Memory > Erase Old > Y es . T o erase all sc heduled events: 1. From the Calendar displa y , press Options (right softke y) > Erase Memory > Erase All > Y es .
Using Y our Phone ’ s T ools Using the Alar m Clock T o set the alar m clock: 1. Select > T ools > Alarm Clock . Note: T o set the alarm clock in a no-service area, press OK (left softkey) in the “Set Current T ime/Date” screen. 2. Select a number and press .
Using the St opwatc h T o start the st opwatc h: Select > T ools > More T ools > Stopwatch . Press Start (left softke y) to start the stopwatch. Press Stop (left softke y) to stop the stopwatc h. Press Resume (left softke y) to start the stopwatch again.
6. Press Done (left softke y) to sav e. T ip: Press the left softkey ( On or Off ) to toggle the countdown alarm on and off. This feature is not available while your phone is turned off. Using the W or ld Clock 1. Select > T ools > More T ools > World Clock .
File Manag er File Manag er allows you to manag e your files suc h as pictures, videos, music and applications stored in the memories of both your phone and micr oSD card. W ith this feature, y ou can sor t, mov e, erase, impor t, rename and open f iles more easily .
Using File Manag er Options When you ar e navigating files and f older s in the file manager , sever al user options are available by pressing Options (right softkey): Move to mov e the file from the cur rent f older to another f older . Move to microSD to mov e the file to your microSD car d (if availab le).
Sor ting the Folder Cont ents 1. Select > T ools > File Manager > Phone or microSD . 2. Select the f older that includes the content you want to sort and press . 3. Press Options (right softke y) > Sort by . 4. Select an item ( Name , Size , or Date ) and press .
Do wnloading Thr ough the W eb Wir elessly Y our phone allows y ou to download ima g es (screen sav er s), ringers, games, etc., from a W eb site. T o download a file fr om the My Content menu: 1. Select > My Content > Options (right softke y). 2.
Do wnloaded Data Options Selecting Do wnload Settings This f eature is available when y ou select a Ja va application. 1. Select > My Content . 2. Select Games or Applications . 3. Highlight the data f or which you w ant to select settings and press Options (right softke y).
Er asing the Downloaded D ata 1. Select > My Content . 2. Select a f older and press . 3. Highlight a file and press Options (right softkey). 4. Select Erase . 5. Select Ye s to er ase the data in the folder y ou select. T ip: T o erase all data in the folder , select Erase All during step 4 above.
9. V oice Services Using V oice-Activ at ed Dialling Y ou can use a voice dial tag to automaticall y dial a phone number in y our Contacts. Y our phone can store up to 30 voice dial tags. Note: Please set the V oice Guide feature (see page 34) to On before using the voice-activated dialling so that you can hear the voice instruction from the phone.
V oice Dial T ag Options 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select a Contacts entr y for which y ou would like to r e view the v oice dial tag and press . 2. Press Options (right softke y) > Set V oice T ag . 3. Select an option and press : Play to play the selected v oice dial tag.
T o recor d a voice memo with the phone closed: 1. Press the Side Camer a ke y . 2. Highlight V oice Memo using the Side V olume ke y and press the Side Camera key . 3. Start recording after the beep. T o end the recor ding of your v oice memo with the phone closed: Press the Side Camer a ke y .
Er asing V oice/Call Memos T o erase an individual v oice/call memo: 1. Select > V oice Memo > List . 2. Select V oice(Phone) or microSD (if available). 3. Highlight the memo you w ant to erase and press Options (right softkey) > Erase > This > Y es .
Set ting the Recor ding Mode This f eature allows you to matc h the sensitivity of the microphone to the type of recor ding you are making. 1. Select > V oice Memo . 2. Press Settings (right softke y) > Recording Mode . 3. Select one of the f ollowing options and press : Dictation to recor d a single voice.
Set ting Up Scr een Call This f eature enables you to scr een incoming calls b y using a recor ded announcement, either one that is pre-recorded or one that you ha ve recor ded. Y ou can also record the caller ’ s message into the V oice data list. Note: Recorded caller’ s messages become “.
Recor ding Y our Name for a Pr e-Recorded Announcement 1. Select > V oice Memo > Screen Call > Announcement . 2. Highlight Pre-Recorded and press Edit (r ight softkey) > Record Name . If your name has alr eady been recor ded, select Ye s or No f or overwriting.
1 0. micr oSD Car d Using Y our Phone ’ s micr oSD Car d and A dapt er Using the micr oSD Card Y our phone is equipped with a 128MB microSD memor y card and adapter to e xpand the phone ’ s available memor y space. It allows y ou to easily store imag es, music, voice memo, and Contacts data in your phone.
Inser ting the microSD Car d T o insert the micr oSD card int o your phone: 1. F ace up the speaker of your phone, open the microSD slot cov er , and inser t a microSD card into the slot with the triangle marking f acing up (with the gold terminals facing down).
Note: The microSD card and its adapter can be easily damaged by improper operation. DO NOT touch the terminals (connection surface) directly with hands when inserting, removing, or handling them. The microSD card slot cover may come off if forcibly pulled.
Using the micr oSD Adapt er The supplied microSD adapter allows microSD car ds to be used in SD-compatible devices. Bef ore using the SD-compatible host, you will need to insert the microSD card into the micr oSD adapter .

micr oSD Files Displa ying Y our microSD Files All the files stored in y our microSD card ar e accessible through your micr oSD files menu. T o access the microSD files: 1. W ith the microSD card inserted, select > T ools > File Manager > microSD .
Set ting Up the Digital Pr int Or der For mat The Digital Pr int Order F or mat (DPOF) is a tool that allows y ou to set up your digital pictur e pr int orders in advance. Y ou can use it to set options such as whic h pictures to print, the number of prints for eac h picture, and inde x pr int settings.
