Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section helps yo u to quickly start using your device. Understanding this User Manual The sections of thi s manual generall y follow the features of yo ur device. A robust index for features begins on page 114.
5 SIM Card Y our device uses a 4G L TE SIM (Subscriber Identi ty Module). The 4G L TE SIM is a small, rectangular plastic ca rd that stores your device number , information abou t your wireless service, and other information such as messages and contacts.
Getting Started 6 Re mo ving the 4G L TE SIM Card Import ant!: T urn the device off before installing or removing the SIM card. T o turn the device off, press and hold the Power/Lock Key . 1. Open the SIM card slot and gently push the 4G L TE SIM Card inward to release it.
7 Charging the Battery Y our device comes with a W all/USB Charger (Charging Head and USB cable) to charge your de vice from any 110/220 V A C outlet. Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the battery before using your device for the first time.

13 Home Screen The Home screen is the starting point for using your device. Note: Unless stated otherwise, instructions in this User Manual start with the device unlocked, at the Home screen.
Understanding Y our Device 14 T ouc h and Hold Activate onscreen items by a touch and hold gesture. For example: • T ouch and hold a widget or app icon on the Home s creen to move it. • T ouch and hold on a field to displa y a pop-up menu of options.
15 Customizing the H ome Screen Y ou can customize the Home scre en to inc lude your favorite widgets, shortcuts to applications, wallpaper and more. 1. Navigate to the Home scre en you want to customize. 2. T ouch Customize in the Action Bar at the top right of the screen.

Contacts and Accounts 24 Section 3: Contacts and Accounts Accounts Y our device provides the abilit y to synchronize information from a variety of account s, including Google, a Corporate Exchange server , and Email account s.
25 Synchron izing your accou nts Y ou can choose to have your device automa tically maint ain synchronization with your acco unts, or manually synchronize each account when you want to check messages. Y ou may also choose to li mit automatic or background synchronization to extend battery life.
Contacts and Accounts 26 Creating Contacts 1. From the Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Contacts ➔ New . 2. At the Save contact to prompt, select an account for saving the contact (ava ilable optio ns depend on the accounts you have set up). 3. T ouch contact fields to enter info rmation.

Contacts and Accounts 28 J oi nin g Contact s Y our device can sync hronize co ntacts with multipl e accounts. When you synchronize contacts wi th y our device, you may have multiple contacts fo r one person. When you join cont acts, all the contact’ s informat ion displays in one Contact record.
29 Sharin g Contact s Y ou can send contact na mecards as vCards via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth devi ce, or as an attachment via Gmail or Email. Note: Not all Bluetooth devices will accept contacts, and not all devices support transfers of multiple contacts.

Android keyboard inc ludes predictive text, which matches your key touches to common words so you can select a word to insert it into your text.
33 Entering T ext Using the Samsung K eypad The Samsung keypad is a cust om virtual QWER TY keyboard, featuring optional XT9 predictive text. Input characters by tapping the on-screen keys with your fi nger , or use spe ech recognition.
Entering T ext 34 Using Sams ung Keypad V oice In put Enter text by speakin g. Samsung key pad re cognizes your speech and enters text for you. Note: Enable Voice input in Samsung keypad settings. For more information, see “Configure input methods” on page 83.
35 Copying or cutting text 1. T ouch and hold on the text you want to select to display the selector cursors, then touch and drag the cursors to highlight the text you want to cut or copy . 2. T ouch Cut or Copy from the Acti on bar at the top right of the screen.

55 Bluetooth Bluetooth is a shor t-range wireless comm unications technology for exchanging info rmation over a distanc e of about 30 fe et. Y ou don’t need to line up the de vices to send in formation with Bluetooth. If the devices are in range, you can exchange information betw een them, even if t hey are in different rooms.
Connections 56 VPN Y ou can use your dev ice’ s VPN (Virtual Private Network) feature t o connect to VPNs. Confi guring VPN Sett ings Configure your device’ s VPN setti ngs. Settings 64 Wi-Fi Set up and manage Wireless Acce ss Points (WAPs). Y our device supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ b/g/n. T ur ning W i-Fi On or Off T urn your device’ s Wi-Fi service on or off. When you turn Wi-Fi service on, your device automati cally searches for a vailable, in- range Wireless Access Points (W APs).
65 Bluetooth Y our device supports Blu etooth ® 2.1 + EDR. Manage Bluetooth conn ections, set your device’ s name, and control your devi ce’ s visi bility to ot her devices. Note: Bluetooth must be turned On to access Bluetooth settings. Bluetooth prof iles Bluetooth profiles ar e specifications for se rvices supported by individual dev ices.
