Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics Key Functions 1. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automa ted prompts. 2. Display Screen displays all the information needed to operate your phone, such as the call status, the Contacts list, the date and time, and the signal and battery strength.
16. Camera Button lets you open the Photos menu. Press and hold to activate the camera mode and take pictures. 17. Battery Release Latch lets you open the battery cover to replace the batter y . 18. Micro-USB Connector allows you to connect a compatible charging cable or USB data cable (not included).

Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics T urn i ng Y our Pho n e On an d Of f T urning Y our Phone On 䊳 Press and hold . Once your phone is on and finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode – the phone’s idle sta te. At this point, you are ready to begin making and receiving calls.
After an additional five minutes or so, the phone sounds a warning tone three times and then turns off. Installing the Battery 1. Insert the batter y into the opening on the back of the phone, making sure the conn ectors align ( ), and gently press it down ( ).
Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics Charging the Battery Keeping track of your batter y’ s charge is important. If your battery level becomes too low , your phone automatically turns off, and you will lose any information you were just working on.
For example, to open the alarm setting screen: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Select T ools by highlighting it and pressing . 3. Select Alarm Clock by highlighting it and pressing . For the purposes of this guide, the above steps condense into: 䊳 Press > T ools > Alarm Clock .
Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics Y ou can dial the emergency numbers even if keys are locked. Auto Key Guard Auto Key Guard will lock ke ys automatically after the time set in Sleep Mode ela pses. If Sleep Mode is set to Off , ke ys will be locked after one minute.
Making Calls 1. Make sure your phone is on. 2. Enter a phone number from standby mode. If you make a mistake while dialing, press to erase the numbers. 3. Press . (T o make a call when you are roaming and Call Guard is enabled, see “Call Guard” on page 100.
Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics Answering Calls 1. Make sure your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to voicemail.) 2. Press to answer an incoming call. (Depending on your settings, you may also answer incoming calls by pressing other keys.

Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics In-Call Options Pressing OPTIONS (right softkey) during a call displays a list of available in-call features. 䢇 Save to save the current call’ s phone number in your Contacts. 䢇 Contact Details to display information about the caller stored in your Contacts.
䊳 Press SEND MESSAGE (left softkey) to send a text or picture message. Saving a Phone Number Y our phone can store up to 600 Contacts entries and each entry can contain up to seven phone numbers. (See “Contacts” on page 51.) 1. From standby mode, enter a phone number and press OPTIONS (right softkey) > Save .

Speed Dialing Y ou can store up to 98 numbers in your phone’ s speed dial memory to make contacting friends and family easier . Y ou must assign a speed dial number to the existing phone number beforehand. See “Assigning Speed Dial Numbers” on page 55.
Phon e Bas ics Phon e Bas ics T o place a call using Abbreviated Dialing: 1. Enter the last three to six dig its of a Contacts entr y’ s phone number to use the Contacts Match feature. – or – Enter the last four or five digits of the number to use the Prepend feature.
Selecting a T ext Input Mode Y our phone provides convenient ways to enter words or symbols whenever you are prompted to enter text. Predictive T ext Mode Predictive T ext sug gests words based on the letters already entered.

38 2B. Settings Managing Preset Messages Y our phone is loaded with 20 preset messages to help make sending text messages easier . Customize or delete these messages, such as “Where are you?, ” “Let’ s get lunch, ” and “Meet me at” to suit your needs, or add your own messages to the list.
2B. Settings 39 TT Y Use A TTY (also known as a TDD or T ext T elephone) is a telecommunications device that allows people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or who have speech or language disabilities, to communicate by telephone. Y our phone is compatible with select TTY devices.
