When a cassette is loaded and the camcorder is left in ST ANDBY mode for o ver 5 minutes without being used, it will turn off automatically .

28 ENGLISH Advanced Shooting Zooming In and Out ✤ Zoom works in CAMERA mode only . ✤ Zooming is a technique that allows y ou to increase or decrease the size of the subject in the picture. F or a more professional looking recording, don't use the zoom function too often.
29 ENGLISH Advanced Shooting Digital Zoom ✤ Digital Zoom works in CAMERA mode only . ✤ Zooming more than 22x is achiev ed using digital technology . ✤ The picture quality deteriorates as you go tow ards the “T” side. ✤ It is recommended that you use the DIS (VP-W87/W87D) f eature with the DIGIT AL ZOOM for picture stability .

33 ENGLISH Advanced Shooting DIS (Digital Image Stabilizer , VP-W87/W87D only) ✤ The DIS function works in CAMERA mode only . ✤ DIS (Digital Image Stabilizer) is a handshak e compensation function that compensates for any shaking or mo ving of the hand holding the camcorder (within reasonable limits).
34 ENGLISH Advanced Shooting MF/AF (Manual Focus/Auto Focus) 2 3 ✤ The MF/AF function works in CAMERA mode only . ✤ In most situations, it is better to use the A utomatic Focus f eature, as it enables y ou to concentrate on the creativ e side of your shooting.
35 ENGLISH Advanced Shooting BLC * BLC on * BLC off 4. T urn the UP/DOWN dial up or down until the object is f ocused. 5. If the picture won't f ocus, zoom out until it becomes clear . 6. T o return to AF(Auto F ocus), press the MF button again. The MF symbol will disappear from the viewfinder .
36 ENGLISH Advanced Shooting PROGRAM AE (Automatic Exposure) ✤ The PROGRAM AE function works in CAMERA mode only . ✤ The PROGRAM AE modes allo w you to adjust shutter speeds and aper tures to suit different recording conditions. ✤ There are 6 automatic exposure modes .
